Sometimes in life, we get stuck in situations where it seems like we've lost our mojo or our creative ability to save ourselves. Usually the problem is that we've lost touch with what drives us from within. Several books and studies through centuries past, have been constantly hitting on the point of maintaining a positive and enthusiastic mindset.

There's this story I heard from a good friend of mine in recent times, and it goes like this. Once upon a time, a great king had many elephants that he used to go into battles with, riding on these elephants and fighting his enemies brought him many victories. But amongst the elephants, he had his favorite.

This particular elephant was very skilled in fighting and in moving. The elephant had a powerful warrior spirit. The king won many battles riding this particular elephant. But as time went by, the elephant grew old and weaker. So the king stopped taking the elephant to the battle field, but always had it around. It gave him great joy to just look at the elephant.

On one day, the elephant went to the stream to drink water, but unfortunately got quite stuck in the mud. People passing by heard the cry of the elephant, and knowing that it's the king's favorite, they sent words quickly to the king. Without hesitation, the king got to the place. They did all they could to bring the elephant out, but all to no avail.

Then an old sage went close to the king and whispered, let's play the drums of war for the elephant, perhaps that will give it inner strength to save itself. At first the king thought, what a silly idea?; but then when all else failed, he agreed. So the drums of war were played, and suddenly the elephant found a way to get it's feet on the ground and got out, all by itself to everyone's amusement.

What's the lesson from this story? The elephant wasn't stuck because it lacked the strength to pull itself out. It was stuck because it lacked the motivation to do so. And many humans, intelligent people as well, sometimes find themselves in similar situations; where the problem isn't their ability to rise to the occasion, but their absolute lack of enthusiasm, interest and motivation to save themselves. Therefore, even as you develop your skills and strength, make sure to keep yourself motivated and enthusiastic about life, and the business you do. It will go a long way to helping you achieve success in life.
