And just like that I have a job again. All the drama of my previous job are long gone. I'm moving on so quickly now. Onwards and upwards!

Well technically, I've been working from home since the beginning of my island life. I've been blogging, working on my own website and doing all sorts of online stuff for the buck. But I have a proper work now or work from home job rather. Aside from the regular paycheck, one of the advantages of being employed to a big company is getting some benefits. Unfortunately where I am, we don't have free medical care. So if something happens (knock on wood...), I won't be able to cover my own hospital bills which sucks. Being a corporate slave makes you entitled to medical and life insurance and your family too. This is the security you get for having a 9-5 job.

I have no complaints, well for now, as I finally have my ideal misanthropic work set up. I'm glad that this is finally working out. I've just started work so I just do online trainings and finish courses these days. I still have some free time to blog and share my rants.

Though it seems pretty weird at first that I don't have to scramble, dress up, and hurry up for work. And that I have to just be in front of my computer with whatever lounge clothes I'm still wearing (possibly just my tank top and short shorts.) Well I guess, this is my new normal now.

I have high hopes that I'd be able to keep this job for as long as I can. I mean this is the plan so I hope to stay angelic and keep my mouth shut. Anyway, I already know the deal in this situation.

The pay is way better compared to my previous job. So I need to make smarter decisions this time such as investing the extra pay to cryptos. I see that I no longer have to cash out or take crypto out of my Hive pot which is the best thing. I actually plan to put back all that I've taken out here. Because I want to be a whale. A whale gets noticed, have more followers and gets upvoted more. And as you all know, if you have more, you'll get more. And if you have nothing, you'll even get - nothing. Such is the reality of our life.

The company did make it clear on my contract that my employment would be terminated if I don't move to another location as per requirement. So I guess that's the thing, I really do enjoy my island life here, my private neighbors, the sound of crickets, literal cat fights outside, and the stars at night. I can't imagine working somewhere else again. No more nightmares of going to the office and dealing with the securities and the day to day COVID check. City life is not for me anymore. I do hope that I can work out some arrangement with my current team and be allowed to work from home indefinitely.

My boss kind of hinted during a meeting that he actually does not have a problem for us to work from home forever as long as our internet connection is good. If it's slow or intermittent, then this might be the only reason for him to require us to work on site. Fair enough. And now I make sure I have everything set up to be able to work smoothly and without interruptions. My ISP is good and I have back up connection or pocket WIFI just in case of downtime. I also have a backup laptop in case of power outage or something.

Working remotely is not really easy as you think. Aside from that amount of skills you need to equip yourself with, there are upfront costs too. During my job search I learned that most companies even require you to have 2 laptops at least, with really good specs (especially if you are in a technical job). Then they also require you to have a superior internet connection speed + back up. And if you live on some remote place like me, then you would probably need a power back up or something. I don't have to go to extreme lengths like buying a generator (for power outage during bad weather). I think some solar power back up, UPS, extra power banks and laptop batteries would do.

What I'm saying is that if you're gonna 100% turn your home into an office, then you need to invest in these things especially if you are going to work for a company that requires you to stay put. I saw that there are also companies out there that offer remote jobs and absolutely do not care where you are. You can be location independent as long as you can find a decent internet connection. But I notice that these remote jobs are usually highly-skilled tech jobs and the demand is high. These remote tech companies will probably agree to anything just to hire and find these Silicon Valley-like people. But it's cutthroat out there. You have to have some extraordinary tech skills these days to compete with other experienced guys out there. Some of these companies will even find those they can pay less for the same tech job.

I'm just gonna focus on this current job for now. I would love to be highly skilled and location independent in the future though. Or perhaps the real goal is just to stack up some money/cryptos and not work for the man anymore. I know deep down that it can be the same shit anywhere I go. It's all going to be the same scenario for me. So I guess in the end, what I really want is to just be completely independent and have the freedom to move swiftly, freely, and live my life fully, on my own terms.

Attention-seeking Diablo doesn't want me to work.
