Disney recently saw an unexpected sort of flop with a recently released film 'Strange World' which had an impressive budget of around $180 million. However at opening at the box office it saw a small response so far with around $18 million at box office for several days around the US, around $28 million worldwide for sales.

It will still be some time yet before they break even.

Is it because more people are used to streaming their movies at home now? There are a variety of platforms when you are looking for new content and especially with inflation rising and cost of living getting worse many people might not have money for the movies and all that comes along with that.

The average cost of a movie night could easily be over $100, though there are some films still drawing big crowds on occasion. The market saw a serious decline through the pandemic but in 2021 there were still billions in sales annually coming in, and movies continue to be pumped out making their way onto the screen one after the other despite the widespread competition with streaming today.

Among the most popular of course is still Netflix for streaming subscribers which has hundreds of millions of subscribers to its platform around the world.
