Over 64% of workers would rather quit their job instead of being forced to go back to the office. Right now the interest for remote and hybrid work situations is higher than ever. People working from home were shown that they could do the job that way for more than a year in many cases. This highlighted the great cost that many pay in transportation, food, clothing, and other work-related expenses. For many it just doesn't make sense any longer and they would rather quit instead of again to work in the same old fashion that they once did.

Commute is the biggest problem

Not only with the time spent in the commute but with the cost of getting there as well, especially with record high prices for gas right now.

As cities have grown over the years, by building endless towers that are able to accommodate growing populations they have arguably done a less than impressive job at adjusting the commute so that it would get better instead of worse over time.

There is hope that self-driving vehicles might be able to drastically boost this standard of commuting by enabling drivers to focus on other tasks which could make the commute more bearable for them.

Paying for transportation

One way companies might look to attract those workers to going back could be to supplement their transportation costs or offer them a company vehicle.

If they want their workers to come back that badly then this could easily be enough of an incentive for a few to consider making the change and enduring those long hours of going back and forth once again. But for others even that might not be enough. The demand for remote and hybrid working is here to stay and for that reason many companies have made the remote working transition a permanent one where it has been effective and possible to do so.
