Costco's quarterly results that were released this week might have surprised some as they kept in line with their expectations and suggested that they are thriving right now. Is that any surprise? As people look to cut back on their spending they are likely to go looking to buy more in bulk if they can to save money.

Costco has a better reputation than many other grocery retailers in the market. They are among the best respected retailers with millions of people. Their dedication to keep prices affordable for things like their hot dogs and food items is also earning them appreciation with their millions of customers.

Costco has also been among the best rated for workplaces in terms of compensation and benefits too. On various lists they've made it as a recognized top employer in different areas, in the US and elsewhere.

changing food habits with inflation

We have seen changing food habits as inflation has risen and driven food costs up. That might mean people are cutting back on meals altogether, looking to plan more, or going to places like Costco where they can hope to find a deal.

Some are even looking to purchase entire animals, rather than just a portion, to save money on meat.

90% of Americans worried about food prices

If there is a recession, some say we might be in one already, there will be some companies that do well regardless of the changing environment. We know that people still need to buy food and they will continue to go to Costco. For now they seem dedicated to doing what they can not to raise prices where possible and that goes a long way for their millions of customers who frequent the stores.

Costco has a reputation of helping their customers get a deal and that's exactly where people are going to think to go looking when they are faced with rising food costs and struggling to meet their needs. Their recent action to not increase membership fees goes to further solidify that notion that they are doing what they can to help people save for now.
