July 2nd 2022 - Uncharted Waters

The Beatles were still together. What is now Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan. Colour television sets were considered luxury items even in most of the developed countries. American were willing to beat and kill each other on the street over the war happening half a world away.

This is how far in the past you have to go in order to find US stock market performance in first six months of a year that would be as bad or worse than the one in 2022.

In other words, US and world economy is in uncharted waters. There are actually very few people who could have experience enough to truly grasp what they are dealing with. And it seems increasingly likely that such numbers are even fewer in the ranks of cryptosphere.

So many bedrocks of the community – whether the exchanges, lending services, trading models, technical analysis and influencer (or “OG”) reputation – got shattered in the past weeks. Bitcoin price – the very metric cryptosphere lives and dies on – is having negative records that it didn’t have throughout its entire stormy existence.

It is obvious that many things that used to believed in were an illusion. And the only certainty is in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies being used for their original purposes. Not as a store of wealth, not as hedge against inflation and definitely not as a way to earn easy (and in most cases completely undeserved) wealth. Cryptocurrencies must be liberated from Bitcoin price and live and die on their own merit. Bitcoin itself must decouple from stock market and live and die on its own merit.

And that won’t happen unless the bad money and bad characters - especially those whose behaviour, practices and mindset mimic the old world crypto was supposed to replace - are flushed out. It won’t be pretty and it definitely won’t be painless. But, just like an old song said, what you want is different what you truly need.
