Whether you are better off owning or renting home depends on too many factors that may be different for each individual - location, amount of rent, interest rates, property tax rates, whether you live alone or have large family etc.

If I have to generalise, I would say that if you own home, a good life depends mostly on you and your management/housekeeping skills; if you rent, it depends too much on other people.
