I don't think those are silly questions, especially that last one! Maybe we have destroyed ourselves before? Maybe it's not that simple. Or not that complex. Then of course there's the whole issue of not being able to figure out if "reality" is actually happening real time, or some sort of dream-like experience of AI, or a simulation, or a re-creation, or...? Supposedly the chances of this actually being THE reality are almost nil. Then you start thinking about what gives existence meaning, if anything, and you have to be careful not to take a wrong (or right?) turn in that neighborhood. Maybe you end up settling on "I decide what has meaning" and "love and truth are what gives meaning to existence", or some variation. But hey, we probably just did too many drugs, or didn't get enough sleep last night. But keep wondering. Perhaps the answers are knowable to us, and that would really be something.
