Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club!

Saturday Savers Club is for anyone who wants to save in any currency for any purpose. The Club is a supportive group of people who meet up around the weekly post, usually on a Saturday but occasionally on a Sunday, to share tips and techniques and have some fun in the process.

Saving is a skill that takes time and practice to acquire and, like learning any skill, doesn't always go the way you planned. Saturday Savers Club provides a framework that you can use to help you on your way, as well as tips and a process to provide or support the skills you need to design and manage your own savings plan.

Here's what happened in 2021.

How It Works

It's always good to have a framework or a target when you start saving and we're going to use the 365 Penny A Day Challenge. This starts nice and easy, so slow you don't even notice, just day 1, put aside one penny, day 2 put aside two pennies, until day 365 when you save 365p and you end up with 66,795 pennies or £667.95.

You can do the 365 Day Challenge with any unit of currency - pennies, cents, hive, bitcoin - whatever you have lying around and you can easily get your hands on. You can keep physical pennies in a jar, or save them in an account, maybe a credit union account, or save digital pennies in your hive wallet.

At the end of the post are some charts and spreadsheets you can use to track your progress. Just copy and save the one that works best for you. You can join the Club and start saving at any time of the year.

The Saturday Savers Club is going to use the weekly chart in the Resources section below. Each week, the equivalent amount is going to be put aside in the @susie-saver account and recorded in the weekly Saturday Savers Club post. This year we are going to be saving Hive (day 1 = 0.01 Hive, day 2 = 0.02 Hive etc) to grow the account to Minnow status.

I did this for the first time in 2020. I was blasé about the first week: 'Ha! I laugh at your 3p!'

... and worried (needlessly) about the final week: 'Erm ... you're saying that'll be £21.75?'

Of course, by the time I made it to week 52 (and weeks 48, 49, 50 and 51) I had learned how to put those pennies together every day without affecting my budget or the way I lived. That's right, I learned how to save. Gradually, week by week, you learn how to find that little extra bit of money that is going to make a 670 Hive difference by the end of the year.

There's a bonus, too, to learning how to save, which is that your attitude and your approach to money and your economic well-being will have changed. You'll be in a different place and have a different mindset.

Here is @justclickindiva's experience of following the 365 Challenge for a year.

You don't have to follow the Saturday Savers Club framework. Several regular Saturday Savers Club members designed their own savings plan and followed that through the year. Other members adapted the 365 Challenge to meet their circumstances. Just choose the plan that is right for you.

Have a Savings Goal

image.png
Image by NASA-Imagery from Pixabay That's our savings, that is!

One of the biggest things that makes a difference to saving successfully is having a savings goal - for Saturday Savers Club, that's something you want to achieve by the end of 2022.

Last year, my savings goal was put together the money for a trip to Jamaica in 2023. By the end of the year, I had saved about £1,000 towards my travel costs. As I'm planning to make two trips in 2023, this year's savings will also go towards travel costs.

Reasons to Save

  • Become a Hive Minnow
  • Build an Emergency Fund
  • Clear Debt
  • Pay for Christmas (or other celebrations)
  • Have a Crypto portfolio

This year, the Saturday Savers Club will be saving Hive to become a Hive Minnow by the end of the Year. For the first quarter, weekly amounts will be added to the Hive Savings wallet. From April, they will be powered up to earn curation rewards and benefit from inflation.

What's the goal for your savings?

EDS Tokens for Comments

Every week, everyone who comments will have the chance to win EDS tokens. EDS is a second-layer Hive Engine savings and income token. Each one costs about 1 Hive (you can sometimes buy them for less on Hive-Engine) and pays a guaranteed 12% Hive income every Monday. They are a great token for savers.

Golden Pig Tips

Through the year, the Saturday Saver Club has a whole programme of challenges, tips and techniques for building your savings including token giveaways, no-buy months and side-hustles.

Here's how you can support the Saturday Savers Club:

  • Vote for @eddie-earner posts - all Hive, HBD and H-E token rewards on posts are powered up to grow the EDS fund and increase the EDS Hive income every week - it's the magic of compounding plus a virtuous circle plus time! Never miss a post by setting up an autovote with Hive.Vote.
  • Carry the Saturday Savers Club banner in your signature at the bottom of every post.
  • Write your own post now and then about the Saturday Savers Club and EDS and why you are involved or talk about it in your monthly Hive Power Up Day post.

That's a nice goal. Increasing your HP is always a good thing because you can do more on Hive and have increased curation rewards and voting power.

Good luck on your goal to reach 10K.

Well I like giveaways and I like Leofinance so I have organized a giveaway to promote the many services that Leofinance offers that people are unaware of.
The raffle will also distribute large prizes over time and will lock up Leo and HP for long periods of time favoring their growth.
I explain everything in this post

The start of another year of the savings club. Last year I saved for CL tokens and did really well with that. Now that I have staked my CL I get CL every week so I am changing my savings goals. This year I will be saving towards two goals first Index token and the second will be HBD at 12% interest it is a no brainer. Hope all had a great Christmas and New Years!! Have a great week all and I am looking forward to reading your comments on what you are saving for this year.

Hello @ericburgoyne, so good to see you 😍.

Hello @eddie-earner and all the Saturday Savers Club members. I'm ready for 2022 Savings. I'll be saving both Hive and HBD according to the Resource Chart #2.

@bearmol, are you ready to do this in 2022?

I'm preparing my template and chart starting today.

Thanks for the alternate savings suggestion. I'll get my Reasons to Save together also.

I'll continue my weekly progress reports.

Take care everyone and see you next week.

2

I hope you have staked your CL from last year in that way you will get paid every week in CL tokens so it is like bonus savings (grin) Another one to look at for savings is Index token great payouts in different tokens every day, and
Happy New Year

2

Hello. Yes, I stake mine regularly and enjoy the weekly CL tokens. Nice bonus. When I withdrew my HBD savings, I transferred 100 HBD to CL for the 1/21/22 buy-in. Hope to send more before the deadline.

Is this the Token for the Index? If so, only small amount.

image.png

I enjoy a daily variety of tokens courtesy of PIMP. I went big on this one.

Let's increase our holdings in 2022. Right now, I've less than 200 CL.

0

Right now I have 568 CL tokens staked, I have INDEX 1419.15376293 as of now would like to be at 3,000 by the end of the year. HBD I only have something like 33 so far but will get lots more through out the year.

2

Nice. I will check out INDEX. Thanks for the tip.

0

I have a few CL tokens which I staked based on your comments last year. They have been growing since then. Thank you 🙏

I almost missed this post. Thanks @justclickindiva.

I’m definitely onboard for 2022.

Saving in the Saturday Savers Club is a no brainer for me. I learned so much in my first year https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@bearmol/celebrating-1-year-on-the-blockchain-or-progress-report-12 and became a Minnow. I’m now at 912HP and 97K Jahm tokens.

I also learned about great passive income tokens like EDS,CL,SPI and UTOPIS.

I’m hoping to clear the hurdles that I couldn’t jump in 2021 by March 2022.
I mentioned them in this post https://peakd.com/hive-183952/@bearmol/2022-hive-outlook.

After that I’ll confirm my new goals.

Love and respect to all my mentors in this awesome community.

Hey @missaj, @fruityfruitz are you ready?

2

OK. Hope you to 1K my 1st quarter. I'll be sure to check up on your progress each week.

Nuff respect to one and all. I made plans but will have to revise because some things will change for sure. I’m on for the journey - let’s go!

Hello @missaj. To set goals is good. And yes, plans change. That's why I like the Saturday Savers Club. No pressure and you set your own priorities and amounts that you want to accomplish.

Good luck, and yes, let's go.
