BUG Report LEO DEX

This morning I realised LEO DEX doesn't show all the BUY and SELL orders. When more than one order with the exact same order PRICE (ASK/BID) is in the system, it only shows one order. The others seem to be hidden.

published by LEO Finance ()

Check the SELL orders in the screenshot I made of LEO DEX (below): the order with the ASK PRICE of 1.800000. The order is for a little more than 41 HIVE, while the total outstanding orders jumps from around 263 to 1032 HIVE (TOTAL HIVE column).

Suspecting multiple orders entered for the exact same or very similar ASK PRICE, I checked HIVE Engine.

As you may know LEO DEX is build on top of HIVE Engine: They both use the same (backend) system.

Below the screenshot I took at (more or less: within seconds) the same time as the screenshot of LEO DEX. In here you can see 3 open SELL orders with the PRICE of 1.80000. The middle one shows up in LEO DEX, whilst the first and third orders, are hidden at LEO DEX.

Same happens with the SELL orders at the PRICE of 1.79911, 1.80534 and BUY orders at 1.71505. While this doesn't happen with the multiple BUY orders at 1.68000.

Further analysing the two (HIVE Engine and LEO DEX), you can see LEO DEX shows BID and ASK PRICES with 6 digits behind the comma while HIVE Engine shows only 5. Since both services are using the same backend system, these errors must be presentation problems.

Such presentation errors, are maybe not the most important problems to solve for the LEO development team. I realise the LEO team is super busy with all the new features they are bringing out at race speed (integration with Ethereum, relaunch of wHIVE at Uniswap, UI upgrades to LEO Finance etc etc), therefore the team may not have had the change to attend to this (presentation) error. But could also be the LEO team doesn't know about this error. I do hope this can be solved sooner rather than later. Any service like this, deserves to present all the data in a correct way.

Maximum HIVE Deposit

Though I don't really understand 100% yet, but it seems LEO DEX limits the amount of (daily?) HIVE deposits to 1k HIVE. This morning when trying to transfer more than 1k HIVE to LEO DEX, I was refunded for the two transactions I attempted. The third transaction for 1k HIVE, was also refunded. Strange, since some days ago I was able to transfer 1k HIVE using LEO DEX.

Subsequently I tried HIVE Engine to transfer a lager amount than 1K HIVE, without any problems.

HIVE Engine charges 1% on HIVE deposits. LEO DEX is a lot less expensive and charges 0,25% deposit transaction fee only.

I'm not sure why the LEO team decided to limit the amount of HIVE deposits. Also I don't know why I still am not able to deposit a smaller amount of HIVE, after a few failed transactions.

But what I do know, it would be best to inform the user of any limitations in this regard while in the HIVE Deposit screen of LEO DEX.

If I encounter problems with HIVE Deposits, more users must have experienced the same problem. All in all it took me quite a bit of time to realise this. Because of this unpredictable outcomes of HIVE Deposits, users may just turn their backs to LEO DEX and use HIVE Engine instead, or stop using the service all together because users may not be aware HIVE Engine exists.

wLEO (wrapped LEO)

This morning got myself a bit familiar with wLEO and ways to make a bit more LEO. Am still in the middle of execution going through some swaps and trades. When the circle is rounded, I share the results and my findings with you.
