Downvoting, a tough call to make

Hive is a curious beast. I find it strange that one should be worried about short form content by fear of milking the reward pool. How silly, sould'nt we be rewarding people for using it as a social media however they see fit?

I like what has been done to avoid spam with the downvotes and the Resource Credits brought in by recent Hard Forks which ushered a radical shift in culture whereas downvoting became less personal and more about the community deciding about what kind of reward a post is worth. For example, I may think a post is worth upvoting because I feel like it should pay 20$ but it currently is only worth 2$. If I see the same post with a 100$ payout pending, I might downvote it because the gap between the two is exaggerated.

Even though the downvoting pool marked a shift in mentality, I would find it hard to risk making such a decision for obvious reasons. Starting a feud.

Besides, the price of Hive being so volatile, I have no idea what the author really earned. What is their currency going to be worth compared to all the other currencies on the planet when they turn it to Fiat? They can also trade it for another crypto, of course. They can do dollar cost averaging on their Hive or something like that.

Hivians who Power Down regularly may receive less upvotes than others, and this is all transparent for anyone to see. Of course it takes time and energy to look somebody up but I have been known to check out a few wallets to figure somebody out in my spare time. Piece a story together about what kind of Hivian they are?

At the end of the day, it is a decision you have to make for yourself, what kind of reality do you wish to manifest in front of you? What kind of community you wish to bring together.

Because one way or another, there is only room for pioneers on Hive, dead weight doesn't last here. We are building a ship together, it needs to float. I have so much respect for my fellow blockchain content creators who are relentlessly trying to earn their keep in this fantasy adventure.

I leave you with a few bougie shots directly from the hood. Our dwelling is in no way shape or form similar to that of these folks who are very rich indeed.

They even have sculptures to their stair cases. Ain't it the quaintest?

This is an unexpected mix of perennials, good for the soul!

Goodbye!
