I changed my mind about Upland, I did not like it at first but now I am having a lot of fun since I managed to sell a few properties for a profit.

Before I begin I just want to apologise to the Indeginous nations of this continent for making a post on such a cruel game that celebrates everything that is wrong with history. To me it's about playing a much larger materialistic game of life. However, first nation culture is equally important to me if not more.

I have to say that this so-called Monopoly-like game has grown on me quite a bit.

I disliked the difficulty in landing the Bonus Piñata, I tried many times with the ping system and got close but no cigar. It doesn't help that you can only fast travel 3 times a day for a fee. One cool thing is that the owners of the buildings you travel to earn a bit of coin.

One interesting fact is that EOS, the maker of this game, has a legal protection for transacting in the US provided by the metaverse named Second Life.

One really weird thing about Upland, is that there are no sound effects.

Anyway, the story goes, I had purchased a few properties in Manhattan and put a good one for sale with success, collecting a decent margin of profit.

That land was originally bought by another player back when the game was newly minting the whole of Manhattan after tackling San Francisco. This means that my avatar did not need to be physically there.

I wondered how I to get my avatar in NYC in order to reinvest my funds on newly minted properties which could mean better deals.

It turns out all I needed to do was to fast travel to the airport but after chasing one of them darn piñatas so I had to wait for my 3 turns to respawn.

I was very excited!

I love the fact that your trip takes a while too, it creates an anticipation of sorts.

I think the moment I began liking this game was when I got into the Google street view, this is what changed the most since my scorching review.

These are my 2 latest acquisitions in lower Manhattan, properties generate their own revenue and the game creators have been hinting at eventually becoming able to build businesses. This guided my choice when interfacing with the AR.

The idea is not new, @gofindxr tried to do something similar and got me curious about this idea of a metaverse overlapping the real world with something like Google Street View.

27 W 38TH It reminds me of our gorgeous Natural Medicine community with its Moringa and Macha powder. It's absolutely exquisite I mean, what an NFT!

Perhaps in a future update of the AR, this store will have closed. And what if they tear down, many small buildings to make a skyscraper in real life, how will the NFTs be updated then? So many questions.

If you're still here, why not use my referral link and try Upland for yourself? It's not cheap to get one started properly without needing to put all your eggs in the same basket.

19 Howard Street

Such a major score, so spacious for such a small locale.

It will be possible to sell these properties for crypto in the near future, and even USD.

For USD transactions, both the buyer and the seller pay a 5% fee and then there is another 5% fee to get it to your PayPal. And this is without reading the fine print so, not cheap, not expensive, quite average given that fiat is involved.

Given the financial dimension of this game I feel obligated to say that none of this is even remotely financial advice.

These are just different angles from the same address. I'm not sure why some are outdoor views when others are interiors. I have seen many clones of a given venue in neighbours too so it is indeed more fantasy than reality and that is what makes Upland a true game.

Because of the complexity of the blockchain, truly interactive dapps have proven challenging to create and I can't wait to see if Upland can take it to the next level. Perhaps by bringing creativity and culture into the mix, the game can come to feel less greedy.

Well, that's it for today. Do you think a game like this can make you rich? Can it have a moderate financial impact on your life? How long or how aggressively would you have to play to make that happen? We all have our dreams and sometimes it's better to have it all be a fantasy in the first place.

One thing's for sure, the pandemic isn't going to stop me from taking the plane in the metaverse, well done Upland!
