The previous season of Summer was a terrible one for me, i encountered some setbacks in my farming venture, and I think sharing my experience would help those coming into the game newly to avoid certain pitfalls.

The Plan

The original plan was this; since I have 5 plots of land, I will plant 3 wheat seeds 3 times on 1 plot of land, spanning a period of 12days out of the 15days that make up a season since wheat takes 4days to reach harvest, then plant 1 watermelon on 1 plot of land. Watermelon takes 12days to reach harvest so that plot of land is also out of use for the rest of the season. That leaves me with 3 plots of land, and as such I would plant my 6 turnips on the 3 plots, twice in the season since turnips take 7 days to reach harvest.

Seeds Fell Apart

The most efficient way to achieve my plan would have been for me to plant my seeds within the first hour of the season, but I was so busy with work and other stuffs that I totally forgot about the start of a new season. When I finally remembered, it was already more than 24hrs into the season! Nevertheless, I still planted as soon as I remembered, but that was the beginning of my predicaments. In dCrops, timing is everything, even an hour could make a huge difference. This taught me a lesson and I endeavoured to set reminders, but this things are not always reliable and it just so happens that my reminder decided to disappoint me. My job is really demanding and gives me little time for other things such as my hobby for Blockchain gaming, so before I could realize the situation of a failed reminder, it was already 8 days into the season. What this meant was that I can no longer plant the remaining 3 turnips I had because there wouldn't be enough time for it to reach harvest. I was sad, but I had to move on, so I harvested the 1 wheat and 3 turnips already due for harvest, then planted the remaining 2 wheats left on 2 out of the 4 plots of land now vacant, that leaves 2 plots of land just sitting around with nothing to plant on it. After the disappointment of the reminder I used, I decided to switch to using alarm. So I set an alarm for exactly when the season of Summer would end and the next season of Fall would commence, but if you've been an avid participant of the game, you would have noticed that I just made another mistake. I needed to have set two alarms separated by at least 30mins, one for harvesting my crops, and the other for planting for the new season. So as it turns out, when my alarm went off, and I logged into my farm, I was given a hard and painful remainder that a crop planted in season A cannot be harvested in season B!

Better Seasons Ahead

Some of the best lessons are learnt the hard way, and this previous season is no different for me. I have learnt to be more meticulous in my planning and strict in adhering to those plans if I want to really be successful in my farming venture.
