Coin Cloud BTC ATMs Are Bunk
At Least in Portland Anyway
Often times when wanting to buy into crypto during a dip at the opportune time, life tends to get in the way. When I wanted to get some in last Friday (the 21st - when BTC was tiddling 30k, sitting around 33k), I was stuck in a monumental crowd that was Orlando's airport security lines, busy getting my ID NOT returned to me by security...
For the record - I am after LTC for transfer NOT BTC
Day before yesterday I wanted to still try my luck with local BTC ATMs (at 35k at this point), but I could not find an ATM without KYC for any amount, and without an ID it made things harder. A friend of mine used these same machines three days prior with no KYC requirements believe it or not (wish I was in town). I went back to brainstorming that evening.
Yesterday I convinced one of my friends that still had his ID to come with me just to see if I could get it to work (38-39k at this point) - this was just going to be a test of the PDX Coin Cloud ATMs.
SO - they want a photo of your ID, a photo of the back of your ID, and a photo of you... and then they want you to wait for a text to verify whether or not the verification was approved within 5 mins - 1 hr. It also said to make sure the photos were legible and not blurry, but no matter what angle or distance we held it at it was still somewhat blurry, although I could kind of the the details after a few tries. Even cleaned the lense.
Over 24 hours later and still no text AT ALL - yay or neigh. After having issues at multiple Coin Cloud ATMs, its safe to say they are not functioning for the moment, at least not in this town.
A friend suggested I try out LibertyX ATMs in PDX, as they do not require KYC for up to $500 USD a day. That is also what I was told about the Cloud Coin machines though. It was up to 2k on those with no KYC before I used them, now its up to 8.5k WITH KYC. Like who is going to carry around 8.5k in cash and bring it to a ghetto gas station or convenience store (which is where all of these are located) and whip it out to an ATM? Anyway... this is what I get for not going to BTC NorthWest (which is unfortunately also KYC now, but at least it works).
I will let you know how it goes with LibertyX. The downside with that one though is that it seems you can ONLY purchase BTC at those... I was after some LTC to morph into other coins. Any thoughts on a further temporary dip in the market due to recent Chinese legislation banning the use of crypto?
Anyone local to the PDX area want to sell me some LTC? HMU
