At my office a few months ago my manager was telling us about how important it is to acquire shares of the company as the ultimate commitment to the product. Since shares are not mandated or distributed to regular employees by the company, many of us didn't heed to her advice because we just didn't have spare income available and it just didn't pay well for small stakeholders.

However I wonder if my commitment to the company would be higher should I acquire shares. While am no slouch and take my job fairly seriously, there are times when work stress can have me stepping back a bit and thinking about other options. Will having stake in the company change this?

From my perspective, I don't think buying shares will prevent me or any other person from moving on if it comes down to it. We certainly still would want the Company to keep doing well but may not exactly be thrilled about the day to day operations. It feels like to really make an impact in a traditional investment, one has to have significant stake.

Crypto varies in this regard in my opinion. Stake is still very important but I think even the smaller investors have a sense of belonging. There is a lot more participation in a place like Hive for instance for small stakeholders and the governance structure isn't as out of reach in crypto. For instance it is virtually impossible to have your entry level voice heard with a traditional company, but anyone can be heard when it comes to crypto.

Having stake is both an asset and an investment in crypto with the possibility of making significantly decent returns depending on the viability of the project in question. When you consider the reward for being a shareholder in a typical financial investment and being one in the crypto space the difference is quite obvious. The latter pays a lot more and offers a better opportunity for transformation.

It is no wonder then that crypto is a full time job for many. Many high stakeholders in the space have sunk their all into it and made the ultimate gamble of investing in an unheralded project. The importance of coming in early cannot be overstated. In the mainstream those who get the opportunity most times to get in early and invest are often those with significant finance. With this space literally anyone can get in and invest, and sometimes we are rewarded with exponentially more than what we invested.

When it was called steem there was one person on this platform who made open his dream of becoming a whale. Fast forward to this day and his stake is way less than Mine. Am Just wondering how much his life would've changed had he stuck to that dream.
