Take All the Shots

Everyone of us can relate to having dry spells in our finances and other areas of our lives. No matter how good things may seem, there will be times when the numbers simply won't add up and it would seem we can't get a break. This often isn't a funny situation to be in, but there is always a way out of it. The one way out of every slump has always been to keep working consistently.

The sooner we embrace the fact that we cannot coerce outcomes, the better. We can only try to influence outcomes with our effort from being consistent with the process. As I said in my last article, this means taking advantage of every opportunity that comes our way. We also have to be humble enough to accept whatever results the process might produce even when we feel better was deserved.

It is practically very difficult to accept a bad outcome though. We see it everyday in the way people react to unfavorable outcomes. It can make us feel angry, disappointed and disillusioned. Many protest the outcomes but there is the inevitable acceptance. In extreme cases though there is a lack of acceptance that can completely break the spirit of any hopeful, prompting inaction and a resignation to fate.

Acceptance without resignation is what we must continually strive for. As we age, we quickly learn about the impermanence of things. What is unfavorable today might have a completely different outcome by tomorrow. What's more, we could get two very different outcomes by taking the exact same steps. Sometimes we just need to trust our instincts when we are on track irrespective of what the results might be showing.

The immediacy of the reward system in the creator economy gives us a solid example on outcomes and consistency. I have seen some pretty high quality material receive low attention and low rewards while comparatively, materials of that same quality make above and beyond their potential. Any creator can get discouraged, and many do. There are tons of channels and accounts on both mainstream and crypto verse whose contents would have blown up if they had kept the consistency.

Inconsistent results should never be a reason to ditch putting in effort. I have no idea how well my Hive content will perform, or how things will go at the office but am always willing to show up and put in the effort. That in itself is a win for those who don't recognize it and it will manifest appropriately with time.

Yes resources are scarce to avail ourselves of every opportunity and every possible outcome, but the ones that do come our way must be matched with enough consistency to hopefully produce the desired outcome we seek. It isn't like there is an alternative anyways.
