The emergence of crypto back then had all of us thinking a quick death was imminent for the traditional financial system. We could be forgiven as enthusiasts, because the flaws were obvious and Blockchain technology felt like the sensible solution - giving power back to the people where it belonged. Time has passed a bit and now things are certainly clearer. There would be no quick demise of the traditional system as they won't go down without a fight.

Cash is still king in many ways despite the proven superiority of online payments. This was the first lesson we could've noticed and perhaps take cues as to why. Like cash, the traditional space does signify to many people a system of trust and security, and many are willing to overlook its flaws for this perceived advantage. This is why we have people who operate in the crypto space always scrambling back to the traditional space when we experience price fluctuations.

Change can be a long, drawn out process sometimes that requires not just a willingness to see things happen, but active collaboration in making sure that they happen. If there isn't support from both sides, we may not see that change happen. Those in the traditional banking space for instance seem more willing to collaborate with Blockchain technology than we would probably expect. Better to keeps your enemies close I guess.

But is there value to be produced in making effective collaborations between the crypto space and mainstream finance? The answer is obviously yes. Take for instance the acceptance of crypto payments by Big tech which allows for more flexible and easier modes of payments especially at the international scale. Incorporating Blockchain technology in one form or the other is the next logical step for many traditional companies and this is starting to yield results.

Even here in the crypto space, we have more need for collaborations than anything else among ourselves. The competition to get noticed and gain relevance should not make us lose sight of this need as a lot of the solutions still to be built will come from people that are willing to collaborate with each other. Take for instance the crossing of specializations or sectors. The potential we see in finance, security and healthcare can only be tapped by effective collaborations.

Conclusion

The Hive chain is one big ball of collaborations. We have so many projects operating one chain with each one trying to leverage on one another. Perhaps taking things to the next level would be forging more collaborations with projects outside the chain. I know leofinance does this to an extent, but perhaps we could see more of this in the future.
