A few months ago, DEC was cheap enough to buy all kinds of potions. Since then, DEC has skyrocketed. However, the price of potions has remained unchanged, both in DEC and in credit. A single quest potion is worth $0.75 or 750 DEC. At the time of writing 750 DEC is worth $4.94, thus making it a waste to buy potions with DEC. I will show you in this guide how to swap your DEC for credit, thus multiplying your number of potions for the very same amount of DEC.

1. Install Metamask

Metamask is an extension for accessing the Ethereum network, and all the blockchains using the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), such as the one we are going to use in this guide : the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Fake Metamask have been reported several times, so I advise you to always use the official website : https://metamask.io/

Metamask is available for all modern browsers (Brave, Firefox, etc.)

Once installed, you will have to create a new account and store your seedphrase somewhere safe. If you are not familar with this process, this link can help you https://medium.com/@alias_73214/guide-how-to-setup-metamask-d2ee6e212a3e

2. Set up Metamask for the Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

The next step is to set up Metamask for the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Click on the top of Metamask, where it is written "Ethereum Network", and click on "Add custum RPC". Usually a transaction costs between $0.05 and $0.1.

Fill in the following information :

Now that you added the BSC, select this network (at the top, same location).

3. Send a bunch of BNB to your BSC address

This step is a bit tricky. BNB is the main currency on the BSC network. Some BNB is thus required to perform transactions on the BSC network. The easiest way to send BNB to your metamask is by using the centralized exchange Binance. You can then withdraw your BNB to metamask by selecting the BSC network. You can find and "copy to clipboard" your BSC address just below the network at the top of metamask. To withdraw BNB to metamask you need at least 0.01 BNB (3.9$ at the time of writing).

3. Link your Binance Smart Chain address to Splinterlands

Now, withing Spinterlands, click on your name and then "Link External Wallet".

Past your BSC address in the box below.

4. Withdraw your DEC to your BSC address

In Splinterlands, click on your stack of DEC. Then select the BSC network, put the amount and click on "Transfer Out". For the example, I put 750 DEC, a.k.a the price of one quest potion.

5. Swap your DEC for BUSD on Cubdefi

The next step is to go on Cub Finance, where most of the DEC liquidity is located on the BSC: https://exchange.cubdefi.com/#/swap

Swap your 750 DEC for BUSD (Binance stablecoin). You first have to autorize Cub Finance to spend your DEC. Once the swap is done, you will have $4.94 BUSD.

6. Buy credit in Splinterlands using BUSD

Within Splinterlands, click on "Buy credits" and select the Binance USD (BUSD) option. Put in the amount that you swaped on Cub Finance *100 (1$ = 1000 credits). In this example I put 4940 for $4.94.

7. Buy potions in Splinterlands

You can now buy at least 6 potions, while you would have had only one if paying in DEC.
