@SecretsOfCrypto says There's always someone trying to steal your crypto and I second that. Stealing has many forms and one can never be too careful. Crypto is a relatively new filed to many and better be aware of how to protect ourselves.

I'm not an expert, far from it, but I see a few mistakes done on a daily bases, the people making these mistakes don't even realize how much danger they are putting themselves in.

We have a few scammers every month offering airdrops on our blockchain and quite a few people get hurt every time. We always say if something is too good to be true then it's not true, but when these people see the earning opportunity, they tend to forget the danger. Some are ignorant, others are greedy, but the result is always the same, they lose their stake and many times their accounts too. The most frustrating in this is that we're a community, we have communication methods, we also have Discord where anyone can ask the community if what they are offering is legit, but the majority is using this option after their account got hacked and when it's too late.

We've got Hivesigner and Keychain to protect our keys, two trusted apps we can use. It's way better than copy pasting your key every time. How many of you have pasted your key instead of a link under an image, or something similar. We also have Keydefender (I hope I got the name right, lucky me, have never had the pleasure to be notified and hope to never have), an app that notifies you in case your account has been compromised, but it may be too late. Hackers always have a plan.

One of the most common mistakes I see people are making is using free wi-fi in internet cafes or any other place that is offering free internet. There are countries where having an internet subscription is not available for everyone and blogging may be the only way of earning, but what good does it make if you get scammed and hacked.

Here's some tips how you can protect yourself.

2FA is now available in most exchanges and banking apps for example. It's frustrating to do the same thing over and over again, but better spend half a minute more every day by doing the email, code and password verification that be sorry one day. Worth checking out what apps have 2FA verification and set it up.

A cold wallet for long term holding is also a very good idea. Keeping your crypto on exchanges is not safe, we all know that, so a cold wallet can be a solution for long term. It may be a bit pricey at the beginning, when you are not holding much, but in time, if you're serious about crypto, it pays off.

Keep your passwords, your seeds in a safe place and think before you click any link you get, even if it looks legit. As I said in the beginning of my post, we have a community, you can ask for help, before you do anything stupid.
