On this hot and sticky midweek evening, I'm sitting here contemplating the moves I intend to make with my crypto portfolio. Seeing prices creeping back up, highlights the wisdom of dollar cost averaging on the way up and down. Emotion doesn't enter into my investment decisions, but simply a belief in the underlying technology and the firm knowledge that the blockchain points the way towards the future.

No FUD for me

If I'd have listened to the cautions of the general public back in 2010/2011, I'd have never gotten into this space. When I read the Bitcoin whitepaper, it was so obvious and made so much sense, that only a Luddite would refuse to get involved. So, tuning out the protestations heard around me, I jumped right in and have never looked back. What I've sensed since then, is that there is a core group of crypto true believers that just "get it" and are willing to take action.

I've since been FUD-proofed and unlike the "Reality Distortion Field" wielded by Steve Jobs, attempts to manipulate the masses, no longer has an effect on me. It's interesting to browse the crypto press and see the flailing efforts trickle down and completely fail at making Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, stick. I hope you're FUD-resistant as well.

So what it's done is made me realize that while a form of mass adoption may indeed occur, it may just consist of a subset of the population with the ability to spot the opportunity right in front of them. Will my family members ever use crypto? Possibly only if the jargon is hidden behind what I call a "normality layer" where they're using it and don't even know it. Sort of like how Mac OS X is built on a UNIX base, which is layered by a user-friendly front-end which just allows people to get stuff done without needing to worry themselves with the underlying technology.

It's kind of like how I wished Linux would have de-jargoned the various distros and made for an easier on-ramp in order to appeal to a wider population. I think the same thing can be done with cryptocurrency and related apps on the blockchain. As more and more developers realize the power in that proposition, I feel that in the years ahead, the best is yet to come.

Thank You So Much!
