When I was in high school, they offered a class in horticulture that I thought would be easy. It wasn't. We had no idea we'd be shoveling snow around the greenhouses, and digging holes for trees in the winter. I barely developed a green thumb, but learned about the benefits of regularly pruning those trees. The same thing has been realized with crypto.

Checking it twice...

Daily visits to HiveStats and Hive-Engine, allow me to keep an eye on the growing number of tokens in my crypto library. Like a well-read old book, some are my favorites that I return to again and again, while others tend to collect digital dust over time.

Once your pile of coins start growing, it takes longer to scroll down the list. Because Hive-Engine stores every token you've interacted with, you can get to the point of paying more attention to your favorites at the top, while barely scanning the ones at the bottom. Due to the fact that the site dosen't delete the ones you've sold, the laggards get bunched up down there with them.

Lately, I've been going through them and liquidating the ones that escaped my attention over time. Some of them were tokens that were airdropped when I was offline almost a year ago, or others that fell from above, and then sank like a rock. After checking in on them for a bit, I went on a pruning binge in order to concentrate my resources in more bountiful areas.

There was one coin I recall that shot up right after it was airdropped to everyone. Having to rush out for the day left no time to react, and upon waking up the next day, it had lost almost all of it's value. So that became one of those "ghost coins" that sat there until it was long past time for removal. They shine with a sparkling brilliance for awhile, before slowly losing that luminescent glow, and falling back down to earth.

It took a little bit to wade through all of that, but now that it's done, I find it much easier to manage things with the limited time available. One important thing, is keeping an eye on events as many of these tokens go through a boom-bust cycle, that we need to stay on top of. Others, only show their true value over time, and can truly benefit those willing to HODL over the long-term. What are the crypto stars in your collection? With some, only time will tell.
