Greetings Havers, today I want to tell you what I think about this new monetary reconversion and its economic repercussion in the country. But, before getting into the subject itself, I must say that I am neither an economist nor a financial savant, I am just a person who tries to have a little common sense, which nowadays is the least common thing.

There are certain antecedents that must be kept in mind, what is approaching is the elimination of 6 zeros to the currency, and this is not the first time that this has been done in the Venezuelan economy, it is the third time. Previously, there have been 2 monetary reconversions and 8 zeros have been eliminated. These eliminations of zeros have been accompanied by name changes: -Year 2008 three zeros were eliminated from the currency and it was named "Bolivar Fuerte". -Year 2018 five zeros were eliminated from the currency and it was denominated "Bolivar Soberano".

Now three years after the last reconversion 6 zeros are going to be removed from the currency, when I found out immediately I thought how will the national currency be called now? and as a joke I thought: "Maybe it will be called Bolivar Fuerte Soberano Galactico" But, no. Thank God I was wrong and this time the reconversion will be called Bolívar Digital.

Click here to read the official communiqué of the Venezuelan Government.

I think that the only thing that this reconversion will change in the national economy will be in the way we express ourselves, it is a change of nomenclature. It has no positive effect on the national economy. It will only facilitate transactions, let me explain.
The most consumed product in Venezuela is Corn Flour because it is used to make the famous Arepas, the most popular flour has a commercial value of $1 or its equivalent in the national currency, today August 10 would be a value of 4.178.646,80Bs.S. That is to say, when I go to an establishment to buy a kilo of flour and I pay with my debit card, I would be charged the amount I just mentioned, but after October 1 (when the monetary adjustment will come into effect) I will pay 4.1Bs.D. (Bolivar Digital).

In other words, if we were to eliminate the zeros today, it would be something like this:

*Bolívar Soberano -------------Bolívar Digital 1.000.000,00 ============ 1,00 2.000.000,00 ============ 2,00 10.000.000,00 =========== 10,00 50.000.000,00 =========== 50,00 100.000.000,00 ========== 100,00

*In relation to the Dollar that is equivalent today to 4,178,646.80Bs.S. per dollar, applying the exchange rate the value of the dollar in Digital Bolivars would be 4.17 since we eliminated the six zeros.

The only positive aspect of this reconversion is that it will facilitate transactions, which were becoming more complicated every day, but locally the currency is still devaluated and I personally think that this elimination of the 6 zeros opens the way for the inflationary levels to continue growing in the country, although we are barely half the amount of zeros that Zimbabwe eliminated in its hyperinflation, we are talking about 25 zeros eliminated by the African nation, against 14 zeros that the Venezuelan government has eliminated in a little more than a decade.

Now, let's make an exercise of imagination and retrospection, after the elimination of the 6 zeros that will come into effect next October 1st, when talking about, for example, 5 Digital Bolivars, we would be talking about an amount of 500,000,000,000,000,000,000.00 15 years ago in the past. INCREDIBLE, ISN'T IT? Surely with this example in reverse, instead of removing zeros we put them, the devaluation that has been growing by leaps and bounds in the country with the largest oil reserves becomes much more evident.

Let's make the depreciation of the currency more evident, with 5 Digital Bolivars in the near future at most you will be able to buy a kilo of Corn Flour, if we travel in the past those 5 Bs.D. will become 500.000.000.000.000.000,00 What could you buy at that time with this amount of money? Literally you were a Millionaire, sorry Billionaire, or more, I do not know what is certain is that it was a lot of money. I think about it and I can't help but feel sad for my country, but this is the reality that I lived today in Venezuela.
I have an acquaintance who works in a bank here in Venezuela and she told me that the banks in the country were already thinking that at any moment the government was going to make a pronouncement and unveil this fruitless and implausible method when it came to rescuing the national economy.

*That is what I think about the economic reality of my country, I long for the moment in which the economy stabilizes and there is more job security. Job security is an interesting topic, but let's wait for now, I bid you farewell, a big hug in the distance.

See you next time

*Bolívar Soberano ----Bolívar Digital 1.000.000,00 ====== 1,00 2.000.000,00 ====== 2,00 10.000.000,00 ===== 10,00 50.000.000,00 ===== 50,00 100.000.000,00 ==== 100,00

INCREIBLE ¿NO?
