Turkish Regulator Seizes Sam Bankman-Fried's Assets

Turkish MASAK launched an investigation against the founder of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried, on suspicion of fraud. This was reported by local media with reference to the Ministry of Finance of the country.

As part of the proceedings, all local accounts and assets of the entrepreneur, as well as persons affiliated with him, were arrested.

Turkish Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati called for "maximum caution" when dealing with the cryptocurrency market, given its risks.

In parallel with this, a form for affected clients of the exchange appeared on the FTX website. After filling it out, users must contact the support service for a refund to their bank account.

On average, about 187,000 unique visitors per month visited the FTX site from Turkey. The country ranked sixth in this indicator. The leader was South Korea with 297,000 visits.

Recall that in early November, the FTX exchange declared bankruptcy due to liquidity problems.

According to the media, the US Department of Justice has everything it needs to open a criminal case against Bankman-Fried and other leaders of the platform.

Earlier, the SEC and CFTC also began to study the relationship of FTX with its US division and Alameda Research.

Bloomberg considered it unlikely that the return of funds by the clients of the exchange, the "hole" in the balance of which amounted to about $ 8 billion.
