Disney Is Taking Web3 Seriously & Why Not!

Disney Accelerator program has chosen 6 WEB3 startups as a part of their business development program. Guess what, one of them is the most popular Layer-2 scaling platform Polygon! And it was the only Blockchain platform selected among hundreds out there. In this blog, we will look at the brief intro about each of those startups and what they do.

DAP 2022 is Disney's ticket to Web3. The six companies were selected based on their potential to bring Disney-themed experiences to life using Blockchain Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR). The goal of the program is to help each company grow in their respective fields and scale their businesses, while also helping Disney learn about what works best in the space. Obviously they

"We are excited to have these companies join our accelerator program," according to Disney's latest statement on the program. "They represent the diverse and innovative thinking that makes up our industry."

The companies will receive mentorship from Disney executives and engineers as well as access to Disney's library of characters, stories, and intellectual property. They will also be able to pitch their ideas for projects during Demo Day at the end of the program.

The companies selected for the 2022 Disney Accelerator program are:

  1. Flickplay: Web3 social app where users can create AR (Augmented Reality) videos with their NFTs.
  2. Polygon: Polygon is the most popular Ethereum Layer-2 scaling platform to create Web3 experiences
  3. Red 6: Red 6 is an AR company that has created a patented headset that is currently used to train fighter pilots and it is cheaper & more convenient than using traditional flight simulators
  4. Obsess: Obsess is a virtual e-commerce store platform that enables brands like Coach, Fendi, AT&T, Mattel etc. to create immersive 3D virtual stores on their websites and on metaverse platforms. How cool is that!
  5. Inworld: Inworld allows users to create interactive, AI-driven characters for metaverse, VR/AR, games, and virtual worlds.
  6. Lockerverse: Lockerverse is a Web3 platform that empowers creators and brands to tell culture-defining stories and deliver unique access and experiences. This is as per their Crunchbase profile. No other relevant information is available online.

All exciting companies doing something innovative in their fields. Disney plans to help these businesses grow with their resources like money, knowledge, and manpower. Together they will aim to create next-generation experiences on Web3. This collaboration would definitely benefit the Blockchain and NFT landscape in the longer term.
