This is just text that describes the image and if you can include the keyword, then it helps.

search engine crawlers don't make distinction between the main post and comments

This is something that doesn't get mentioned a lot.

To the Google crawler, text in the code is text.

Headings, the body, comments, text hidden under drop downs etc etc is all the same and can be optimised.
