Have you recently opened up your Ethereum wallet and found a bizarre ERC-20 token called HotLove?

While thousands of people claimed the HotLove airdrop with their Trustwallet, a ton more have got it anyway.

If this is you, then keep reading to dsicover what is the HotLove crypto airdrop and whether you’ve inadvertently struck it rich.

Spoiler alert: You haven’t.

Did you receive the HotLove Airdrop?

One of the cool things about crypto is that it’s technically possible to instantly airdrop new tokens to current wallet addresses.

Anyone with an ERC-20 compatible Ethereum address will have received dozens of random airdrops on the back of HODLing another coin.

It’s just a part of crypto.

So while some savvy investors used Trustwallet to claim their HotLove airdrop, plenty more of us just got them shoved down our virtual throats.

Quite the visual there, I know...

Project founders use this tactic to advertise their project.

Now this can go one of two ways:

  1. They can legitimately want to distribute a token that does something to a wide demographic.
  2. They can efficiently advertise a scam.

Unfortunately for those of you who received some HL, it looks like the HotLove crypto airdrop fits into number 2.

The HotLove crypto airdrop is a scam

Let’s start by having a look at the HotLove (HL) token on Etherscan

Head down to transfers and look at those endless, random airdrops.

All through the Polygon ERC-20 Bridge.

Now what this tells us is that people use the Bridge, HotLove grab their public Ethereum address and simply airdrop them HL.

HotLove is nothing more than a worthless ghost token that you should ignore or transfer away.

It’s nothing to worry about... for now

But unfortunately, your HotLove crypto airdrop wont make you rich either.
