No, Elon Musk will NOT decentralise Twitter.

Honestly though, what a stupid question to ask.

The question should probably be rephrased to why would Elon decentralise Twitter?

I mean he’s just ploughed 2.8 billion dollars into the company.

You really think he splashed that sort of cash to simply gut the company and decentralise how the network makes money?

To suddenly disregard all laws and open not only the company but himself up to a raft of lawsuits everywhere someone is berated online?

For the good of humanity?

Haha, oh okay.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re living in another universe to the one we do.

There is simply no way in the world Elon Musk will, let alone even can decentralise Twitter.

It’s just not going to happen.

Elon Musk just bought a stake in Twitter

Taking a step back and dissecting today’s big market news, Elon Musk just bought 9.2% of Twitter.

Elon bought 73,486,938 shares of common stock and with TWTR shares trading at $39.31 at the close on Friday, that means it was a cool $2.8 billion trade.

Not too shabby, right?

Oh boy, you know what I just realised?

Here I am giving out 0.1 slices of PIZZA tokens here on Hive, worth under a cent each.

Why don’t the Pizza lads allow you to use all 10 of your 0.1 token tips in a single hit is what I want to know.

But that’s an argument for another day.

Back on track!

Twitter will never be censorship resistant

Funnily enough, just before pulling the trigger on his Twitter buy, Elon used the platform to conduct a cryptic Twitter poll.

“Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?” He asked.

At this point, I’m fully convinced Elon Musk is just fucking with us all.

He of all people is intelligent to understand that if free speech is essential to a functioning democracy and that decentralised social media is how this is achieved, then Twitter will never be the solution.

Just like I’ve spoken about when it comes to new social media platforms like Gettr, there is a difference between saying you’re censorship resistant and making censorship technically impossible.

And obviously only one of these matters.

The platform will NEVER fall under the second category no matter how much lipstick Elon tries to slap on it.

Twitter will always just be nothing more than the metaphorical pig.

Hive is the perfect home for a decentralised Twitter dApp

Anyone that truly cared about freedom of speech would simply build decentralised social media applications on Hive.

With no pre-mine, decentralised token distribution and a battle tested ability to defend itself from being taken over by any single entity, Hive is the solution.

Boasting fast and free transactions, the Hive blockchain is tailor made to host a decentralised social media dApp that can go mainstream.

You see, Web3 Hive accounts are censorship resistant at the blockchain level and allow for users to connect to a multitude of different social front-ends.

Front-ends that extremely wealthy, philanthropic entrepreneurs who claim to care about freedom of speech…

Say like Elon Musk?

…Could build.

Instead, Elon chose to continue using a platform incapable of decentralising, to just ask the same tired old questions.

It’s all just lip service.

Best of probabilities to you.
