Zed Run Digital Horse Racing now runs on the Polygon (MATIC) network.

As somewhat of a horse racing gambling degenerate in a past life, I’ve been extremely bullish on Zed Run Digital Horse Racing since launch.

Remember, Zed Run is a digital horse racing platform that allows you to breed, race and trade horses as Ethereum based NFTs.

The biggest issue facing the platform has always been the extremely high gas fees that investors are forced to pay on Ethereum.

But thanks to Zed Run’s move to use the Polygon (MATIC) network, the game has gone to new heights.

Zed Run Uses MATIC

Zed Run has now fully integrated with the Polygon (MATIC) network.

This was done in order to reduce gas fees when using the platform and speed up transactions.

Ultimately, the switch to use MATIC, has seen the user experience on Zed Run dramatically improve.

So just what is Polygon (MATIC)?

Polygon (MATIC) is a layer-two (L2) scaling solution for Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks.

Using a sidechain on L2, Polygon is designed to enable cheaper, faster and equally secure off-chain Ethereum transactions.

Polygon's ultimate goal is to build a multi-layer sidechain ecosystem, that is fully interconnected.

Something that they see as the internet of Ethereum blockchains.

When it comes to interacting with Zed Run, the switch to Polygon significantly lowers fees and improves transaction speeds on all racing contracts.

How does Zed Run take advantage of Polygon (MATIC)?

Zed Run takes full advantage of Polygon by implementing what they refer to as an escrow type contract on the Mainnet.

When you transfer ETH tokens from Zed Run to Polygon, they’re placed in escrow so that balances can be mirrored in MATIC.

Don’t worry, your balance will always remain exactly the same as it was if it was being reflected in ETH.

You’re now just taking advantage of the power of a layer-2 network’s ability to avoid getting bogged down in a fog of main chain transactions.

When transferring ETH to Zed Run, the game represents it as your ZED Balance.

This is simply an in-game pricing mechanism linked to the value of ETH.

You are never buying MATIC tokens or have to worry about the price of MATIC when using Zed Run.

Your Zed Run digital horse racing NFTs will always still be valued in ETH.

Final thoughts on Zed Run using Polygon (MATIC)

The Ethereum blockchain is a massive double-edged sword.

It’s obviously the premier blockchain with smart contract capabilities, but at the same time, it’s so inefficient and expensive.

As long as the top NFT based games such as Zed Run continue to persist with using Ethereum, layer-2 solutions such as Polygon will be a saviour.

Other than moving away from Ethereum, the team had no other option and in my opinion, certainly made the best choice available.

Best of probabilities to you.
