Can't go anywhere in Norway without seeing Ads promoting Bitcoin

To say that the Bitcoin hype is at an ATH here in Norway would be an understatement. Whether it is at work or when hanging out with friends, people are talking about it.

But nowhere is this more visible than at the many train and/or metro stations around the Norwegian capital with its 700,000 citizens. As the main hotspots for people taking public transport to get around town, or going in and out of the city (yes, in Norway the planes are flying and people traveling much like normal despite covid), this results in the best possible exposure of any ad placement for the region's inhabitants.

Walking down to the Metro at the Oslo central station, one wall is entirely covered by the Bitcoin logo + an add for a different exchange.

Arriving back in Lillestrøm where I live 10 minutes out of Oslo and the same ads are covering the walls.

I find the ad itself amusing, as the images show BTC valued at $10,000, which of course already feels old. One could guess that's because it's not that many months since that was the price for BTC, and that the image is just "old", but I think it's more likely a reminder to people that "fuck, I should have bought BTC at 10k!"

I find this case interesting in another way as well, namely about who it is that is marketing a decentralized cryptocurrency? On Hive, we often hear when talking about marketing our chain that there is "no organization behind Bitcoin marketing it". Yet Bitcoin is being marketed all the time. I guess it begs the question who should be marketing Hive?

I think I know the answer. Do you?
