Over three weeks ago I created a blog about the Sorare Fantasy Football game. It's a Football Manager game that can be played with NFT's. The NFT's are real players in real competitions. These players can earn points for your team in every match they play. Read more about the game in my first blog.

Starter League

This game got me interested from the start. When you register on Sorare (Referral link) you get a budget to buy a selection. Your selection exist of 10 players of the common level. With this team you can join the Starter League Rookie.
In the starter league you have a small chance on winning rare cards. You have to finish in the top 3 and there are mostly over 3000 competitors. You do have a big chance on winning common player cards to strengthen your team. Unfortunately common cards cannot be sold on the market.

The Starter League is fun and nice to try out the game. But there are more leagues you can join like the All Star Leagues. These leagues have requirements. The lowest Global All Star League (D4) requirement is you can only select one common card in your team. The rest of the team have to be at least rare cards.
This means you have to invest in rare cards before you can join this competition.
But..... you can win serious money and other rare cards in this competition too.

The prizes of Global All Star Division 4 are the following:

The first prize is a whopping 0.5 ETH (€542.80). The second place gets 0.3 ETH and the third place 0.2 ETH All top 3 ranked teams get one Star Rare card.

When you finish 4th to 13th you will receive 1x a Tier 1 Rare card 14th to 34th you will receive a 1x a Tier 2 Rare And when you finish 35th to 130th you will receive 1x a Tier 3 Rare

My investment

First of all: This is not a financial advise! Always do your own research! After a few weeks I've decided to invest some money in this game.
One reason is that I really want to play with the big boys now. I've been scoring quite well with my common cards. You need a certain amount of luck, but you do have influence in your selection.
I think a top 130 rank must be possible and this will mean 'free' new rare cards.

My buys

I decided to invest a relatively small amount of money; 0.06 ETH. At least, a small amount for this game since a lot of rare player cards are even more expensive than my entire budget. The
Since the Global All star D4 allows one common cars I 'only' have to buy four players.
Sorare has two markets; New signings where you can buy from Sorare. I found out that it's almost impossible to buy player cards with my budget since the bids start to get higher when the deadline approaches.
So I focussed on the Transfer Market. This is the market where other players sell their cards.
It was a puzzle to find players that and play their games and are affordable.
I managed to buy the following players:

Ricardo van Rhijn; a defender from Fc Emmen from the Dutch league. Mehdi Abeid; a midfielder from Fc Nantes from the French league 1. Hilal Ben Moussa; a midfielder from Fc Emmen again. Igor de Camargo; an attacker from KV Mechelen from the Belgian league.

I've added my common goalkeeper Pau López since goalkeepers are scarce and therefor quite expensive.

This squad cost me 0.06 ETH

My thoughts

For now this is the amount I wanted to invest in this game. I'm happy I'm able to join All Star League so I can compete for higher prizes.
I hope my selection will gather some points in the upcoming rounds and hopefully I will earn new rare player cards that I can add to my team.
There is also another way to earning with this game. NFT's can increase in price. When a player plays well for a few matches the price of his card will likely increase and you will be able to sell it at a higher price on the market.
