Learning to save

From a young age I have been taught to save. My parents got me a piggy bank which so save coins. Every once in a while I went to the bank to deposit it in my account.
The amount steadily grew and I received some nice interest back then. At the moment things have changed dramatically. Banks in the Netherlands even charge you when you have large amounts of money in your account. Saving isn't really encouraged this way anymore.

Saturday Savers Club

I've registered on Hive in late 2020. I've collected a some Hive and second layer tokens and saw a couple of them rise to the stars. Instead of saving I started investing in games and other tokens.
Apart from some small successes the total value of my 'cryptos' became less and less.
This year I decided it was time to stop 'gambling' and start saving again.
You get less quick gains, but you slowly build a fortune (or at least, that's what I hope, haha). I've seen posts of the Saturday Savers Club before, but didn't really paid attention to them until now. Since I switched from 'gambling' to 'saving' it seems a good idea to join @eddie-earner's initiative, so here is my welcoming post!

Setting my goals

I have created posts with goals in the past, but I stopped doing this months ago. But setting goals is a good motivation to keep you going, so with this post I'll set my goals for the end of the year. My main focus is Hive and HBD. When I created this blog I had 4593 Hive and 360 HBD.
My Hive goal is to become a dolphin by the end of the year. If I remember correctly you will need 5500 Hive for that, so that will be my Hive goal.
Apart from the Hive growth I also want to increase my HBD to receive the 20% APY (1,66% per month).
My HBD goal for the end of the year is to have 750. That will give met 12.45 free HBD each month which is compounding of course...

I'm at 4594 Hive now, so I need to gather 907 Hive until the end of 2022.

When I look at my HBD I have 360 now, so I still need 390. I just started depositing 50% of my author rewards in HBS this year, so I think I will be able to achieve this goal.

Proof of Brain tokens

The third goal is to get an even bigger POB stake. At the moment I have a 16879 POB stake which makes me #26 on the POB richlist. I give away a large part of my weekly POB in my weekly #pobphotocontest but stake and delegate the rest to my POB Curation account (@friendmoose.pob). I use that account to curate Photography related posts in the Proof Of Brain community or with the #pob or #proofofbrain tag.
Being in the top #26 of the POB richlist almost makes me a whale. Because of a nice delegation trade with @onealfa (POB for VYB) and a delegation from @melinda010100 I have a 35k POB stake which is really cool. It gives me some nice curation rewards which help me to grow my own amount of POB.
My goal is to have 22.500 POB by the end of the year.

To sum it up:

My plan

And how am I going to achieve this? For my posts I use the 50/50 Hive/HBD rewards and I stake my Hive rewards immediately so it effects my upvotes and tranfer the HBD into savings. The monthly HBD savings go directly back into the savings as well. I also stake my POB immediately and delegate it to my dedicated POB account @friendmoose.pob to get the most out of the votes (I'm only voting on POB posts with that account). I'm also using other 2nd layer tokens which I earn every now and then to buy some more Hive. I might use some Hive to buy more HBD, but actually only want to do that when the Hive value is over $1.

Let's see if I can reach my goals before the end of the year.
Please mention me in the weekly #saturdaysavers post @eddie-earner and/or @susie-saver so I'm reminded of the goals I want to achieve!
