The pandemic seems to have accelerated the era of technological tools, social distancing is generating a wave of technological services and devices capable of facilitating the most complex tasks that may arise in this time.

Thinking about all this, Google and the Gates foundation created an alliance with the aim of providing a free digital peer-to-peer payment service in real time.

The digital payments platform is aimed at serving that world population that does not have access to digital financial services, this population is estimated at 1.7 billion people, according to a statement.

"Our vision of universal financial inclusion is a world where everyone, everywhere, can access and use the digital financial services they need to build economic security and resilience." Kosta Peric, president of the Mojaloop Foundation and deputy director of financial inclusion services for the Gates Foundation said.

The announcement comes amid an effort by the Facebook-backed Libra Association to create a new digital payment system to help make financial transfers easier and less expensive for people outside the financial system.

The announcement aims to create an interoperable system based on the Mojaloop software project.

Mojaloop is a benchmark model for payment interoperability in the face of barriers to large or small money transfers, the organization said.

Open source software was first established by the Gates Foundation in 2017.

Now it only remains to wait for the launch of this financial tool and the impact it will have on the population to which it is directed.

Undoubtedly, the virtual world has accelerated dramatically in this time of quarantine and the technological era continues to take place and reach more people around the world.
