Project Blank is very likely NOT the name of Leo's Microblogging App

A few weeks ago nobody would believe Leo's microblogging app might be named Project Blank.

It was just a replacer until an announcement with the real name would have come out.

But time went by and people started to talk about #projectblank and blanks (as in tweets), and the name grew in popularity.

But how likely is it that the name of the microblogging app will be ProjectBlank or Blank?

I'd say close to zero.

Here's why I think so.

I checked the "who is" details for the "leofinance.io" domain.

As in many cases, the actual details of the owner (like his physical address, phone number etc.) are obfuscated through a proxy, Domains by Proxy, LLC.

But we know who the actual owner is: Khal. He just doesn't want anyone to drop at his doorstep. There are enough dangerous people hiding in the corners of the internet, that's why privacy is important.

The same proxy is used to secure the domain "leofi.io". That's right, the domain for a website yet to be launched and which will probably be launched after the microblogging app.

Same for the domain names of the other apps under Leo: "hivestats.io", "leodex.io" and "leopedia.io".

Now, if we use simple logic, the domain for the microblogging app would already be secured and use the same proxy to fill in the details.

So, I looked for simple combinations using a "ProjectBlank" domain name and haven't found one using the same details as the other domains Khal has. I looked for "blank" too. :) Same result.

There are enough domains available with these combinations, but to think Khal would wait for the last few weeks to get the desired domain name is insane.

This little experiment convinced me - although I was pretty much sure of it even before - that we should truly expect a surprise name, and not a blank filler.

Care to guess what the name will be? :-)
