I hope by now it became clear interoperability of blockchains is a big deal today and will be a requirement in the future, to be relevant.

A post by @jk6276 where he brought to our attention that ATOM - the governance token of the Cosmos blockchain - will soon be added in its native form to Thorchain, led my thoughts to write this article.

The Cosmos ecosystem, with its Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) capability, it's like a cluster of blockchains closely interconnected and using the same technology to tie them up.

EVM chains like Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, etc. are another category of blockchains that can be seen as a cluster. Apps built on any of them can be migrated to another with practically no changes. There are numerous bridges between them.

Even Hive and Graphene-based blockchains can be seen as a cluster, although not sure how many of the other Graphene-based blockchains are still operational.

Thorchain took another approach and linked to its ecosystem other major coins, in their native form, without using their wrapped versions. It allows the cross-chain swapping of those coins, using the RUNE token as an intermediary.

Everything becomes interconnected. Including the Hive ecosystem, and potentially more Graphene-based chains.

Hive has a connection to Polygon through the wrapping and unwrapping mechanism provided by the Leofinance team and the wrapped versions for both HIVE and HBD on Polygon.

Since Polygon is an EVM chain, it's easy to port changes between the apps developed on these changes. So we will have bHIVE and bHBD as well, on BSC. Moreover, any other assets on EVM chains can easily be moved from one EVM chain to another. The exception is the original EVM chain, Ethereum, which is generally prohibitive due to high fees.

Both Ethereum, and, luckily BNB too, are connected in their native form to Thorchain, which is connected to other major chains natively: bitcoin, litecoin, bitcoin cash, etc. I didn't want to place doge or luna in the same category as the above.

And Thorchain will be connected to the Cosmos Cluster via ATOM when that will be added to Thorchain.

I also drew a less powerful connection between Hive and bitcoin, because it's with the lightning network, not with the main bitcoin chain. But that's powerful stuff what @brianoflondon keeps working on.

I also didn't draw lines between the Cosmos Cluster and other chains, although they are entirely possible via the wallet from the crypto.com app, which is part of the Cosmos ecosystem.

Of course, this is just a small picture of what is going on in the crypto-verse, based on my interests, focus, and knowledge. It's a whole web of interconnections being built and enough areas of the crypto-verse we remain unaware of.
