Green candles week, and I'm sure many are super excited about this. :) It is also very dense in news and reports and I'd rather just move on to that without a longer introduction.

Let's see what we have for this week's roundup.

Week on Hive

Tomorrow Hive Turns 3! Celebrate by Powering Up!

Hive was born on 20 March 2020 as a fork of our legacy chain, after an eventually successful takeover of the legacy chain by a crypto bag influencer in collusion with 4 or 5 major centralized exchanges using their customer funds to vote his puppet witnesses in place on the old chain.

While those events left scars, it was probably the best thing that could have happened to Hive, its community, and the projects that followed onto the new chain. But that was a turning point that could have ended badly. We should be grateful for what we have now! I certainly am!

@theycallmedan believes it would be a great idea to celebrate the anniversary of Hive tomorrow by powering up some Hive. There will be prizes... Here's his post:

Core Hive Devs Meeting

Like always, core Hive devs have different projects they focus on. @howo completed his work to update recurrent transfers, but needs to fix some things. @blocktrades team started to work on the base elements for the second-layer smart contracts platform and made some fixes to HAF. They are also looking into embedding the open-source OpenChat into the condenser. So, will we have two independent chat systems in the Hive ecosystem (including Sting Chat from Peak Open), whereas not so long ago we had none? Also, @imvatsi is working on a notification system. Here's the full transcript or recording, whatever you prefer:

Discussions About Protecting Hive in Hypothetical Situations

We, on Hive, are burned with the takeover JS pulled on the previous chain. So, we prefer to analyze all potential situations and protect against them before they actually happen, when we can.

This is a discussion that may be important to continue in one form or another.

Peak Open Projects News: Sting Chat & Peak Vault

Peak Open are projects developed by the PeakD team and developers that collaborate on these projects that are open-source and supported by the DHF that can be used by anyone in the ecosystem who finds them useful.

This week, Peak Open announced the launch of the alpha version of Sting Chat, a discord-like application. This is the presentation post:

Also this week they announced the development of Peak Vault, an alternative to Hive Keychain. Here's the post:

Splinterlands Land Expansion 1.5 Whitepaper Came Out

From my point of view, this was the most expected event of the week, and it didn't disappoint. I didn't list it at the top because Hive is more than gaming and I may be biased regarding its importance. But more about the whitepaper in tomorrow's post and next week. Here's the link to the whitepaper (warning: it's long!): https://splinterlands.gitbook.io/the-secret-of-praetoria/

Also from Splinterlands this week:

  • SoulKeep closed beta next week:
  • a new promo card is about to be released:

Hive-Sponsored Rally Car in Croatia

@lordbutterfly reported on the video shoot they did at the rally in Croatia. To quote from the post: "Last years "WRC Croatia" had an attendance of over 300 000 spectators with coverage from 400 media members.". Looks like a finished product after this video shoot is coming...

Muterra Dev Report And Partnerships

Muterra came out with a dev report for the month of February:

and another post about the sale of the Eco tamer through partners and their own tokens:

Other News, In Short

I think I'd like to skip the crypto news this week because this week's recap turned out too long already. But it's great when we have so many things to report from Hive!
