You May Not Want To Believe This…

2003 Seth Godin published “Purple Cow, Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable” and the business world was in shock. Business owners like me are a very passionate crowd. The belief is I have stayed in business this long and must be doing something right.

This is a very incorrect attitude to have. The passionate business owner is always looking for ways to improve their business and update their operations. There are business owners that avoid this because of the expense and discomfort.

Always Be Uncomfortable

The business owner that wants to stay in their comfort zone may want to think about selling out and or retiring. This is the end game for all business owners. One day we will all retire. Practicing what I am preaching my site has been growing through a lot of growth.

It has been a very uncomfortable experience redesigning and adding updated features, and incentives. I have even been updating the payment system so that the membership will have all possible choices for making payments.

How Can I Do Better?

The Attitude of how can I do better is essential to having an ever-growing business. It is not just how I personally can do better but a question that must encompass everything like customer satisfaction, product quality, great support, and excellent training. The positive adjectives are subject to people's opinions.

I am going to use Seth Godin's book as an example. The original 2003 publication is perfectly acceptable for businesses today. I have never heard or read anyone saying anything negative about that book. Yet Seth Godin updated and expanded his already amazing book to make it better and published the new edition in 2009.

What About Brand Loyalty?

Seriously lol these days brand loyalty is not really a thing. For example, I love the Pittsburgh Steelers, and will always be their loyal fan, unless they did something crazy like leave for Philadelphia. That is the key right there, you think you have this massive following until you do something wrong or maybe you did nothing.

In many cases doing nothing is a lot worse than doing something people do not like. Doing nothing tells people that maybe you lost interest. Doing something you think is great but your customers were not as impressed at least they can see you are trying to improve.

The BBD Bigger Better Deal

Your best friend will always be looking for the bigger better deal. It is written deep within our genetic code to always be looking for improvements and flaws. This is survival, but that is another conversation.

Your mission is to always provide the bigger better deal before your current customers even know that is what they are looking for. I know this sounds difficult but hey if it were easy the Fortune 500 List would be the Fortune All Businesses Are Perfect List.
