An ant expense is an expense that may seem very small but when we make a sum of having spent this many times, we can see that it becomes a much higher expense than we really thought at the beginning, as in the case of drinking a coffee for $3 but when we reach 100 times it becomes having spent $300 during the time it took us to drink the product 100 times.

In the case of gasoline something similar happens but it may be less visible since it is more difficult to quantify and may represent something so small at the beginning that it may prevent us from being motivated to make a calculation about the expense we have in this way.

And what happens is that the cars spend gasoline for each time we are driving it, and this expense is proportional to the distance traveled, but with variations between different types of cars, being that there are cars that spend less (small cars and with little power) or cars that spend more (such as large trucks).

This difference may be somewhat small when we make a calculation, since there may be a car that spends 1 liter for every 13 km traveled, but there are also others that spend 1 liter for every 10 km traveled, and it may not seem much, but a 30% difference is a lot, especially when we see a much larger route, because for example, if both cars travel 10. 000km (which is usually something normal in less than a year), the expense can be 769 liters in one case and 1000 liters in the other, which represents a difference of 231 liters during the period of time in which we traveled the 10,000km.

The cost per liter is 0.5$ in Venezuela at the moment and can vary according to each country, but what we can also see is that if we keep with a car that travels 100,000 km (it can be much more) we can see that the difference stops being 231 liters and starts to be 2310 liters, which can be 1155$ at a price of 0.5$ per liter.

It is fine that we want to have high power cars or big trucks, but we must keep in mind that these cars consume a lot of gasoline, and if we want to save money that we spend unnecessarily, we can see that having a big truck for our daily transportation use in the city is a bad idea, and maybe we can get a luxurious car but save gasoline because of the low power.

The idea is not to avoid buying a big truck, but it is good to have a reason to have a car that spends more gas compared to another car that can fulfill the same purpose (transporting us) and with less gas expense.
