How Risk Management Can Save Your Portfolio
I have been running a nice 4 week red streak. I have reduced my risk from .7% to .1%. I don't exactly know what happened other than the market has dumped. Others are still very profitable using the same general strategy. I know I have been a little stressed lately with only 2 weeks left of work and a planned 3 month off for the summer which I have prepared for financially. Considering my red streak, I will most likely find another contract to start after the summer vacation. I was doing very well since 11/2021 till end of 4/2022. Somehow I hit a brick wall. I noticed the drastic change in profitability and reduced risk to .1%. Next week, I may reduce risk further to .02% till I figure this out again. Anyhow, I say this only for those that may have these red streaks as well.....be honest with your self...reduce risk, take it slow. I haven't lost much in those 4 weeks overall.... just 1.4% of account. Risk management is super important. Considering i was risking .7% per day, a loss of 1.4% for the month is not bad at all. First red month since 11/2021. Taking it slow..
