Inasmuch as having hope in what you do is the very pillar of your every action, and your drive to achieving your goals. If you mistakingly put your hopes on something that isn't realistic or something that is false - you risk wasting a lot of your time chasing shadows. This is a common mistake many people make.

It's a very common mistake because it's really tough sometimes to distinguish a realistic goal from one that is completely unrealistic. Most times, you're encouraged to dream big, and make big plans for your future. Plans that will inspire you, dreams that will make you want to wake up to hustle every morning.

If a person makes the mistake of believing a dream that is false. Or putting his/her hopes on such a false dream, the person uses energy and time that would have otherwise been directed to other more productive things in that unrealistic thing. If such a person isn't careful, years may be swallowed in this fantasy.

Hence, it begs the question - how can one distinguish between a realistic dream from one that is just a fairy tale. The first thing is to put pen to paper. If it's real, then you have to be able to draw out a logical plan that will take you from your current situation to where you want to be.

It's really that simple. And that's the reason why it has always been advised through the centuries, that you should always draw out your plans. And write down your goals and how you logically can achieve it. This is the way you can make sure that you're not putting your hopes in something unreal.
