How Did I Come To The Conclusion That Starcraft II Helps My Business?

As you may know I am an avid real estate investor, but what you may not know is that I sneak in a game of starcraft at least once a day to keep my real estate and strategy mind alive! There are so many similarities and complexities to the game of real estate and the game of #starcraft.

I was evaluating my business a few years ago and I found my mind traveling back to starcraft. You see, I was having a "no resources" moment in life and saw opportunities all around me to expand! It was at that time that I realized my business didn't have enough people bringing resources back to me. Or in the terms of the Zerg, I needed more drones out there harvesting minerals!

I decided to take a whack at playing the #game and comparing it to real estate live which I've attached. I soon discovered that it is much harder to do at the same time and lost the game, lol. SOOOO I will likely go kick someone's butt and just do a voiceover for the next one so I look like a winner, lol.

Anyway, here are my key principles for starcraft and real estate:

It's All About Getting The Right Location

Just like in real estate the player who is most likely to win will want to pick up as many great locations as close to valuable #resources like minerals and vespeon gas. In real estate we aim ot be close to airports, hospitals, schools and access to transportation.

Your Strategy May Change Depending On Your Starting Location

The fact that you can't control where your main base in starcraft is very similar to not being able to control where you grow as far as city and #housing. Depending on where you start on the map or in life will dictate the path you will have to take to reach your #goals. You may not have started out in the best location, but you can scout out better #locations and move yourself as the game plays out!

Outside Forces Will Have An Impact On Your Survival

In this game you start out with a single known opponent, but you never know what they will throw at you. In real estate investing it is the same concept. The opponent can be the #economy, your own #mindset or any of thousands or scenarios, but the best investors are ready to capitalize on everything that comes there way. In starcraft the best players will take an opponents attack as an opportunity to strengthen their defenses or send a counter attack to strike while they are spread thin.

Always Be Expanding And Collecting Resources

The name of the game is resources! In life these can translate to #dollars or #crypto and in starcraft it's minerals! The player with the most resources has the most #options and can pivot if they discover they don't have the right army, #upgrades or defenses. The same is true in life and in #business!

When you have a surplus of cash you can buy more valuable assets and opportunities to help you reach your goals as well as pay for the #education, training and skills to help you level up your #investing career.

Be Flexible In Your Approach But Unyielding With Your Goal

The goal in business is #financial #freedom and then to leave a legacy to make the #world a better place and make sure your family has a financial fortress. In start craft the goal is to be the player with the most structures in place and the #ability to beat back any #force that comes your way.

In Conclusion

Yes, I play video games to gain insight into my own mind and the #strengths and #weaknesses that are most likely playing out in my business are usually the same as in the game. That being said... While I was building my #business, I put all of my focus on doing the right #activities in the right order and I put video games and friends aside for a few years.

Now that I have attained financial freedom and have built a great business that will outlast me and my family, I still like to take a break from the real world now and then. BUT I will always put my #family and business first as well as my #investors and intend to keep playing this real estate and business game just as hard as I did in those early days, because there is no game like the game of life!
