Seeking Advice from someone Who Is Still buying HIVE With USD

I've been watching the development of HIVE over the last year. All of the new Dapps impress me and I fully believe in the potential for the project.

Leofinance, 3speak, and Splinterlands are great examples of massive utility.

So now I am trying to figure out what is the easiest way to purchase HIVE with fresh Capital?

In the past I've gone
coinbase->
Uniswap->WLEO->LEO->LeoDex-> hive.swap

But it's a hell of a journey...

I'm wondering if there is a more direct route?

I am looking forward to seeing the different paths everyone is using!

Yooo!!! Check this out! https://peakd.com/hive-193816/@nfttunz/tunz-updates-buying-credits-with-crypto-and-paypal#@nfttunz/re-unorgmilitia-r5i8i5

You can swap credits for swap.hive
And then you know the rest!

I did it the way you discussed and also through Blocktrades. I know some people have complained you don't get the best rate through Blocktrades but when you factor in the cost of Uniswap->WLEO->LEO->LeoDex-> hive.swap then it's really not that bad and more direct. Hope that helps you

@yieldgrower Blocktrades sounds like it might be worth checking out. Do you have an affiliate link?

Not sure this is the easiest way, but I use Bitpay to Simpleswap. I did not have good results with Bittrex, but I can move ethereum from Bittrex to Bitpay and then to simpleswap for hive.
Here's a recent blog about the journey https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@methodofmad/from-here-to-eternity-a-brittex-quest-to-hive

@methodofmad thanks for dropping the post here! I am going to check it out and compare it to some of these other strategies!

FWIW, I’ve used Coinbase for LTC —> Blocktrades —> Hive.

Maybe not the cheapest, but easy.

You guys should checkout the NFT Tunz thing that I linked.

I tried it but it won't let me convert my credits. I've tried like 5 times. I'm just letting it sit for a while and I'll try again later but...just letting you know. I only did $25 just to see how it works so I'm not too worried about it. I'll update if and when it works.

Definitely the cheapest way to do it is through Bittrex in the US. You can buy HIVE directly from a debit card through your bank. And then the transfer over to HIVE only costs .01 HIVE!! Yes, you read that right: .01 HIVE is the transfer fee no matter how much you send. Plus, it usually takes a whole 3 minutes to do once you've got your account set up. In fact, many times I've had to actually wait a few seconds to transfer the HIVE because it won't let me transfer in the first 2 minutes after buying it.

That said, there is one BIG negative about Bittrex. For some reason, they like to put HIVE in maintenance mode and then you can't transfer it in or out. For example, I bought a bunch over the last couple months and had no problems. Then all of a sudden about a month ago now, they put it in maintenance mode and it's been that way ever since. I've got a bunch stuck over there right now that I wanted to get over for the airdrop snapshots and couldn't.

I ended up selling some into USD and then buying LTC and bringing it over that way, but it cost me about 50-60 HIVE for the 1000 I moved compared to .01 if I could have just moved it directly.

So, to make a long story short, it's definitely the easiest and cheapest when it's not in maintenance mode, but you definitely need to make sure it's not before doing anything or it could be stuck there for a while. Like I said, it's going on a month right now. I expect it to come out any day now but....definitely something you have to pay attention to.

@dagger212 thanks for the feedback and the warning on maintenance mode! Bittrix definitely sounds like the best way to go if they can get it working again.

I connect bittrex to bank and can buy that way though their liquidity is low
Consider also using sights like stealthex.io to trade something like bitcoin for hive... pretty fast and cuts down a bunch of steps
