Many of our great members of Silver Gold Stackers hail from Canada. For several weeks, I have tried to acquire a Canadian Maple Leaf. In no small part, as my personal way of acknowledging and thanking all of my fellow stackers from the Great White North.

My last several trips have been a BUST! Today, however, there were several Maple Leaf Coins available and I knew that today is the day that I finally can pay tribute to my neighbors to the North.

A 1989 Silver Maple Leaf and it says $5 (I suppose this is a rare misprint since the American Eagle says $1 for an ounce of silver); super score!

Fun Fact: 1989 was only the second year that the Maple Leaf was minted.

I must admit the Reverse is absolutely fantastic! And I like the fact that both English and French are used. Even cooler than that is that the weight is designated in the proper measurement - the English System!

Quick quiz: What is the French word for MONEY?

ARGENT! In French the word for money and silver are the same! Something to think about there!

Well I think this has been enough work for one day from my personal beer garden.

What a wonderful bright sunny warm afternoon in North Carolina!
