I talk about hive a lot and recently I got asked by my cousin who was hearing me talk about it for the first time and I realized many of the explanations I usually used didn't actually cover what it is.

If I say it is a like a social blogging site where users can interact and earn. This is correct and straight to the point but hive is so much more. Conventional social media platforms might be bigger in the amount of users hence more popularity but with so many different front-ends, it looks to me like hive has a lot more bigger projects it's just the numbers we need.

All of the above is under the assumption that it is a social platform. But hive is first a Blockchain network before anything else and so this pops another set of explanations which would first involve explaining cryptocurrencies and how they function. I've found that in explaining crypto newly, Bitcoin seems to be the magic word as most people have heard of Bitcoin but might not even know it's history or that it's a cryptocurrency.

Again even after explaining and getting a new user to finally create an account, hive can be accessed through various front-ends and it might take a while familiarizing oneself with the different interface. Ecency rewards users for basic operations such as voting, posting, comments and the likes which is very encouraging. Personally i use Peakd a lot more apart from the general hive front-end because I find it easier to navigate.

Seeing all this we begin to see there's so much tied to the hive Blockchain that just talking about the hive token doesn't begin to cover it. Leofinance with it's own token is another community which I've been on for a while now and I see updates on project progress that I sometimes can't keep up with the growth. But I'm a believer of positive growth as a welcome development, you don't always have to understand everything which is one of the things that attracted me to the community (everyone is welcome).

Gaming is another part that might interest many people. Explaining that you can earn other tokens from doing something as interesting as gaming is a plus for hive that I love. I know a user here whose main focus has been splinterlands.

Majority of what I've written is my understanding mixed with experience. There's just so much to talk about and we probably have different experiences. How would you describe Hive?
