Inspiration from a post

When I came across this post from Marky Mark on LeoFinance it was a moment to think back. Because like many here on this blockchain, I have also been around for quite some time. And for the time being I have no plans to change that either.

How did I actually end up here?

In September 2017 I started blogging on a Dutch blog site with the idea to earn something with it. I was totally new to blogging, I honestly had no idea how to go about it and I didn't think I could make a lot of money with it. The first 10 euros was therefore a party for me. Certainly because at that point in my life I was in a deep depression that was partly due to the fact that things were awful financially, which also had a huge impact on my state of mind and my relationship. Writing allowed me to express my emotions and put things in a better perspective. In addition, writing slowly gave me a broader view of the world. Because to be fair, my world had become incredibly small after my work contract was not renewed.

We live in the countryside, by Dutch standards “In the middle of nowhere”, and so my days passed with only the conversation of my dogs, and in the evening hours and weekends my partner. When you end up in such a situation, you also quickly notice that friendships often change and that people who you thought were your friends drop you very hard. My life had become a drag at that time, I got few new impulses and writing was a nice distraction. And also brought me new social contacts. That I could also earn something with it was of course more than welcome.

The other blockchain ;-)

Several bloggers were of course active on that blog site. And one of the bloggers was @karinxxl, she was active there and on Steemit. When we got into a conversation she told about her experiences there and after a number of conversations it seemed interesting to me to start a blog there as well. Although I still thought I could not earn anything from a blog. And what should I blog about? And could I do that, everything in English? Many doubts, but curiosity won. And that's how I ended up on Steemit on December 9, 2017.

I was clueless

Never before had I dealt with cryptocurrency. Except for the name Bitcoin, I didn't know anything about crypto. I didn't know at all that there was a whole world of altcoins besides Bitcoin, let alone how it all worked. But after watching on the sidelines for about 3 weeks, I started blogging anyway. In the beginning, I blogged for just $0.01 or not even that.

Never give up

Now of course I know why that was, but it took a while before that penny dropped. What I saw at the time was that there were a number of accounts that only posted a single photo, and were well rewarded for it. At the time I had no idea about buying votes, I had no idea about whales, and I also had no idea how important engagement was. What I did know, however, was that I didn't want to give up. And even if I only blogged for pennies, I faithfully posted a photo post or a more extensive blog every day and made sure that I posted good comments with others' blogs. After three weeks of being active, I decided to take a different angle and wrote a basic photography tutorial… and that moment, I will never forget. In the morning after my partner left for work, I opened my internet browser and suddenly saw that I had received a $110 reward on my photography tutorial. I couldn't believe my eyes, I was completely amazed, surprised and super happy. That was the moment of which I say…

I was hooked!

I stayed

Well, long story short… Steem plummeted at the end of the Bitcoin cycle. And since I still barely knew what was happening, I had found my niche in blogging too much, I had become too addicted to the many contacts I had built up, to the flow of information… and especially to cryptocurrency. In short, I stayed ...

Fast forward to now

Now we are a few years later, a whole new platform, a lot of blogs posted ... and a bit more cryptocurrency richer. And yes, I'm proud of that… I wrote another blog about it earlier this week.

Found a way to a future

Received a lot of information, looked for a lot of information, and found a lot of information. And I can really only say that these years have done me good. I have now regained hope from a hopeless situation. From no social contacts, to new social contacts, from a fairly one-sided view of life, to new interests, new knowledge and learned many new things. But above all… found myself again. And at the same time as when I have found myself again… I have also found a way to a future. Because I seriously believe, although I cannot make a living from cryptocurrency yet, that I can in the future. I will fight for that and that is my ultimate goal.

Yes, I am sure I will stay.
