I Am Worth Something..

Each individual is worth something to someone. Some have high expectations in life and others struggle with low self-esteem and can't seem to measure their self-worth. As someone who have struggled with- and are working with mental illness on a daily basis, I could easily go on and on about self-worth and I could try to write motivational pieces in various ways to encourage and/or inspire people.

However, this is about 'letting others decide your worth', without questioning yourself and without giving up or looking at your contributions as failures or mistakes. Wayne Gretzky once said "you miss 100% of the shots you dont take" and if you truly take that into mind and heart, I am certain that potential failures or mistakes won't be holding you back as much as it did previously.

  • What does any of this has to do with Hive or LeoFinance.io though?

Honestly speaking, I think it is a vital life lesson to truly understand that failures and mistakes are what shapes you in life. No one got a guide at birth that told you exactly what to do at all times and in all scenarios in life. We are bound to make mistakes and we need to overcome our failures to grow as individuals.

I think it's important for people to understand- and implement this same mindset on Hive as well. Regardless of which community you decide to be involved in, you need to commit, spend time and produce something of value. You need to give value to get something of value back. It's a win/win situation at the end of the day. You give and you get something back.

The best advice I can give you here is to never have any expectations because it will never do you any good. You don't decide how much you are worth on Hive. You must allow yourself to let others decide your worth which obviously is- or can be a really scary thing for those who are afraid to lose control.

Just remember that you need to fail, so you need to produce content that "no one seems to like", "hate" or "ignore" to push yourself from point A to point B. As long as you stick with it, you will see results you can be satisfied with. Understand that you are worth something at all times but people will decide "what you are worth" on Hive. And you need to be okay with that.

'If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is grass in the beginning.' - Vincent van Gogh.

Most of us knows that you can earn multiple tokens on Hive and we also know that you can earn different tokens on each post you make. Adding a few extra tags on your posts automatically increase your chances to earn more tokens. A really cool idea and a superb system in place. Hive with it's communities gives everyone the tools we need to change and improve our lives in various ways.

Some are looking to become the next crypto millionaire while others are looking for a few extra bucks per month and everyone is needed for Hive to work properly.

We need investors and people who are holding on to their tokens and we need people who are selling them instantly as well. It doesn't matter what people say, any successful cryptocurrency will always need both buyers and sellers for things to hold value over time.

You know, bitcoin, LEO, Hive or whatever crypto you mention are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You can't say that it's worth this or that if you actually can't sell it.

So, with all of that being said, I could easily have talked about my own goals, how much I have earned or mention things I have been able to buy because of Hive, LeoFinance and other communities. I could have talked about how I would've been a millionaire by now if I had been able to hold my BTC in 2016 but the truth is that none of that actually matters.

It's obviously awesome to hear that "user x" was able to buy a mansion or travel the world because of his contributions on the blockchain, because people love success stories, but success is individual. My goal is not, and have never been to buy a mansion or a private jet.

I see Hive doing miracles in the world, one step at the time. I have already witnessed the impact we've had in Venezuela for instance. I have seen how a single mother was able to put food on the table for a week, month or year due to her contributions. I have seen homeless people finding shelter and new clothes. I have seen it and I was a part of many of those things as well due to how Hive works.

I did not give away all my money to some charity for any of that to happen. I was just doing my part on the blockchain. I upvoted something, I shared it with others or I talked about it with someone, at some point, and things started to happen naturally, because that is what Hive is.. It's about team effort.

I have published several thousands of posts during my time on Hive and I have probably made hundreds of posts without being rewarded for it in terms of money or tokens. On the other hand, I have also been the top author on LeoFinance.io multiple times, earning way more than the majority of the users on LeoFinance at that time. The same goes for Hive itself. I have made friends, I have laughed and gained a lot of experience due to my contributions and due to the time I have invested in this place.

  • That is rewarding to me.

Money or tokens is far from the only reward on Hive. It's about team effort, relationships, knowledge and experience. Money is most likely the main reason for everyone to be on this social media on steroids platform in the first place, but money is just one of the things we get back for our contributions.

  • Hive is change.
