Over the past 4+ years I have been active, transitioning from Steem to Hive, we have seen many wonderful initiatives and projects come to life due to amazing talents and skills and we have seen things being built on our beloved blockchain with high hopes of appealing to the masses, with hopes of generating 'buzz' and with hopes of Hive becoming the next big thing..

As someone who had literally zero knowledge about cryptocurrencies and blockchain before I joined Steem, I obviously listened to others. I listened to all the "leaders" we had but I rather quickly realized that some of those leaders did the opposite of what I knew from personal experience outside of the blockchain to yield the best results. As time passed by, I noticed how people gave up, how the value of our tokens steadily seemed to decline and I noticed how things where far from what has been promised, discussed and talked about.

I often became frustrated as I saw how certain things seemed to be completely ignored or overlooked, and truth is that 'money talks' and as a small account, it was literally impossible for me to discuss things with our "leaders". It was fairly easy to get in contact with them, but not many of them cared to listen.

They told me what they wanted to and ignored the things I had to say. They didn't care and I don't blame them. I can totally understand how many of them must have been spammed privately over the years from 'money-hungry upvote-beggars' so they might have put up a defensive barrier for whenever a random, small user sent them a message. I don't know..

It might be as easy as our "leaders" who constantly talks about the importance of building and that we need to promote Hive to attract investors are ignorant, and that's okay. Regardless if people are ignorant, or if some people actually lack social skills and logical thinking due to them being awesome tech-savvy blockchain peeps or not, we should focus on one thing in order to keep people on Hive. We want people to stay once they have signed up. That should be our main priority..

As the overall feeling has been negative on both Steem and Hive for a very long period of time, (except for that short period right when Hive was brought to life as people believed they would see something different from what they had been used to on Steem), we have also seen tons of people search for answers.

  • "What Is going On And What Can We Build To Change This?"

Like stated above, we have seen many new projects and initiatives. We have seen people talk about the fantastic opportunity we have with Hive and how awesome it is.. But if we fail to keep the existing users, or fails to appeal to them..

  • How are we supposed to attract the masses?
  • How are we supposed to keep them once they sign up?

People seems to have missed one piece of the puzzle, and they have been searching for years for it (during the continuous decline), even though it has been there, right in front of their eyes during the entire time.

Luckily, due to Hive communities/tribes, (which probably is the best thing we have seen so far), we have some fantastic people out there trying to fit the pieces, and #leofinance is one of the communities on Hive who have found the missing piece. LEOFinance found the missing piece and they have managed to lay the entire puzzle. Not by themselves, but with the help from the entire community, which is exactly where Hive fails.

Hive does not welcome the average people. Hive is complex, like the communities as well, but Hive does not appeal to people for one major reason: Hive is not fun, so people aren't willing to learn.

I have said this for years, but the audience are the most important asset for everyone on Hive/Steem. That is why I decided from the moment I started to get my first followers on Steem, to always reply to any of the comments I got. I had articles on Steem that people commented 3 years after it had been published. I still replied numerous of times because my audience is the most important part of any success I might have. If I will ever have any success, or if I get to be really successful, it's due to my audience. It's due to my followers. You shouldn't ignore that..

I have seen people completely ignore their audience over on both Hive and Steem for years and they are for-whatever-reason *still heavily rewarded, have large delegations or are for some other weird reason considered to be "top authors". - No wonder we are in a shitstorm.

Let me present to you..

The Missing Piece Of The Puzzle!

Engagement is the very basics of social media. We live in a world of instant gratification and no one would ever use social media platforms as Instagram, Facebook or Twitter if no one liked, shared or commented the content. You don't earn cryptocurrencies to like a post on Facebook. You don't earn cryptocurrencies to retweet something on Twitter and you don't earn cryptocurrencies to make comments on Instagram either.

Those social medias are not "web 3.0", "decentralized" and you are not the sole-owner of the content you post, but people are still using these platforms instead* of Hive..

  • Are you seriously going to tell me that "the masses" haven't found us yet?

We have people promoting Hive for several hours per day on these traditional social media platforms. They even try to promote Hive to crypto-millionaires, and we still haven't mooned yet.

Listen, I know, we are still young and I don't mean to bash Hive this much. I still believe in Hive. I believe in the technology and the long-term vision, but I can't say that I agree with the chosen path. I do believe that we could have had much better results by now, if we had done things differently, but it seems that large stakeholders who have the power to actually change things aren't willing to do that. Perhaps out of fear to lose their investments, perhaps due to lack of business knowledge or even social skills. It doesn't matter why we don't see changes, what matters is that we see change.

It's not over yet and we still have time to change the course of things.. We are still young and all that.. But can you actually ignore the amazing results we can clearly see on #leofinance.io?

  • Can you still ignore the importance of engagement?

The question you should find an answer for is:

  • Are you ready to manually curate, reward, praise and embrace engagement?

That Fosters Growth And Innovation.
