Always Ready For The Next Step

We have seen time and time again that @khaleelkazi and LeoFinance delivers. Whenever you hear someone talk about LeoFinance and the creators you hear good things. They discuss with- and listen to the community. Everyone truly seems to be- and feels to be of value for each other, which is a pretty awesome feeling for the users.

Add all the innovative changes & features we see on a regular basis and you definitely have a recipe for success. You might be an ingredient or two short, but you are well on your way to have the most delicious cake ever. In my last post, LeoFinance & Hive Growth With Optimized Content, I had some awesome conversations and Khal himself got me thinking..

Text version: This gives me a few ideas. I wonder if there’s something we can do to have an “SEO specialist” pull a list of good potential SEO content from https://leofinance.io each week and then reach out to the authors who wrote them - giving them a new draft of their article with keywords added, etc. that would supercharge it. What do you think?

Text version: I think it's a really, really cool idea, but I think it will be difficult to pull off.

I mean, even a great optimized post today, can (and should) be updated in the future to "ride on the existing rankings" so to speak, but there's literally zero reasons for the "average" Lion/Hiver to go back in time and work on something old.

People are generally looking for short term rewards and would obviously rather publish something new and be rewarded for that, than to work on something old and not be rewarded for the efforts.

Edit Old Content

We all know that rewards are the priority for at least the majority of the content creators on Hive. We can obviously mention decentralization, owning the actual content, web 3.0, community and whatever, nothing will take away the money factor. The entire concept is to earn so there’s definitely nothing wrong talking openly about it. People might have stayed for the community and other reasons, but everyone jumped in because of the opportunity to earn.

With that being said, people would obviously prefer to earn when they produce content rather than spending time creating content and give up the rewards entirely. The same goes for making changes to dead content as well. Most people wouldn't be interested in making edits to old content just for the sake of making them more appealing. It would most likely be of huge interest if people earned something for doing those changes though, as it would basically allow content creators to earn multiple times for their efforts.

I replied to Khal, but I couldn't let go of the things he said, or I couldn't really let go of the enourmous potential that actually lies before us. Call us Vultures. We can feast on the dead content.

We could "clean up" old content by pushing in some new air into it, and the content would suddenly be up to date, fresh and it would continue to ride on it's current rankings which would ultimately boost the organic traffic as well. Kind of awesome in terms of traffic to the site, but not so great when it comes down to what you as a creator earns by doing it.

  • Would you edit old content if you earned something?

I don't have any great, solid ideas or any answers for how it could actually work, but I have a few weird ideas I play around with in my head so far. One of them is that one could reward the user X amount of tokens to update an old post, as long as that post met some specific requirements.

Note that I am not talking about updating all content that has ever been published. I am talking about certain types of posts. Content that brings in traffic from search engines.

For instance: You published "Post Number 1" 14 months ago. That post already brings some traffic regularly, and has been pushing people towards LeoFinance for some time. Make some edits and you have a fresh article that is ready to bring even more organic traffic.. And voila! - You receive X tokens once the changes have been made.

  • I don't know. I think you get where I'm going with this.

Would you be up for it?
