Well, here I am - my Introduction to the community

I've had a profile here on Hive for a few days now and after reading several posts and visiting communities it's become clear to me that it's really appreciated when someone new writes an “introduce yourself” post. So here it is 😊 At the same time, this is a good exercise for me as I am not a blogger and I have yet to get to know this interface.

I've known Hive for a while, someone talked to me about it a long time ago. The reason I didn't create a profile then has to do with the fact that I'm not a blogger, and certainly not a big fan of social media. On the other hand, I have always been curious about crypto currencies. Like many, you hear all sorts of stories, good or bad, depending on who you talk to, but so far I have not taken any further steps to act on them. I have what investors call a “defensive profile”. I mainly invest in shares of established companies that pay a nice dividend.

But it still itched. And certainly when I saw that dividends of up to 20% are being promised here. Actually too good to be true, isn't it?

But what prompted me to create a profile here anyway? Well, here too I play it safe and the reason is, I think, quite original: my wife and I have decided to smoke less from this year! And if you ask what smoking and hive have to do with each other, the answer is simple… just count how much smoking costs. All money that literally goes up in smoke.

So the idea is to put some of the money we save into Hives. Not everything of course, I keep having a defensive profile 😉, but at least half. I put the other half into my classic portfolio. At the end of the year I will be able to see whether the return is at least as good (hopefully better) than with classic investments and I hope to learn a lot about cryptos. (I already learned how to buy Hives on exchanges 🤭)
