History On 2 June 2008, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) issued an RMAF 50-year Commemorative Coin in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). The launch of the coin was officiated by DYMM Sultan Pahang, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'In Billah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'Ayatuddin Al-Mu'Adzam Shah as the Royal Malaysian Air Force Colonel at the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base, Subang.

Three types of commemorative coins issued by BNM; RM100 gold proof, RM10 silver proof, and Nordic gold RM1. It was sold at all BNM branches nationwide on the same day. ud.jpg This front-end coin design illustrates the transformation of the RMAF aircraft, symbolized by the first aircraft of the RMAF Twin Twin Pioneer and its latest aircraft purchased "Sukhoi Su-30MKM". The line connecting both aircraft shows the progress that the RMAF has traveled over the past 50 years in flight history. The 50th Anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Air Force and 1958 and 2008 are on the side of the coin, which shows the achievement of the RMAF.

The backside design illustrates the RMAF's signature on the center of the coin. The word BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA is located on the upper side of the coin, while the face value is on the lower side of the coin.

The commemorative coins are minted and circulated by Bank Negara Malaysia and sold on 2 June 2008 at Bank Negara Malaysia's headquarters (BNMLINK) and at its branches in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.
