A few days ago I commented on the failed AI chatbot called Bard that has been promoted by Google and developed by its partners at Alphabet. In an attempt not to get behind in his fight with Microsoft, they released a test it went wrong, Bard made a mistake on a science question that was immediately highlighted by the entire scientific community.

A devastating mistake cost Alphabet about $100,000 in a loss in its market capitalization. The immediate consequence, in addition to the economic one, is credibility; therefore, most people now rely more on the competitor and use it in various ways. Google is going to have a hard time lifting this heavy stone.

We have learned from the news that responses and opinions from AI chatbots have been used in the United States of America congress, no less; but they were also used by the president of Israel in a recent speech and, perhaps a little more worrying, they were used in courts in Colombia.

Of course, following this line, it is the second time in a few days that ChatGPT is used to obtain political definitions in our country. We are beginning the electoral campaign although there are still many months to go before the elections, this is not surprising since in these latitudes politicians move much more to achieve their re-election and new positions than to solve the problems of the community.

One of the biggest concerns of the current government is the judicial situation of its leader, the two-time president and current vice president of the country; in this sense, they have spent a lot of time and effort trying to discipline the judiciary, along these lines in recent months They have devised a plan to prosecute the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and have already entered the Chamber of Deputies a document to carry it out, in the corresponding commission they have a majority and it has been accepted. However, there was a debate on the part of the opposition and a deputy exhibited a fragment of his speech obtained from a question to ChatGPT: why do populist governments try to control justice? The answer was forceful and aligned with the general thought of the opposition.

The following query to the already famous chatbot was made by a well-known journalist in the local media for his fervent opposition to the current government and to everything that Peronism / Kirchnerism represents. His question was the following: What is the damage done by Kirchnerism? To which the chat responded that its main damages are related to inflation and corruption.

All of this sounds funny, but at the same time, it sounds like something dangerous, not so much in a political sense since the answers are in line with what a majority of the country's inhabitants believe at the moment. The problem may lie in its consequences in other areas of daily life. AI is something that is still in an early stage of development and issues like the one described in the Bard case can and will still occur.

It is not for nothing that scientific journals have prohibited these Chatbots that use AI from appearing as co-authors of trials and studies. Along the same lines, colleges and tertiary and university institutions around the world have prohibited students from using them, in an attempt to prevent plagiarism and cheating.

The great danger that looms is misinformation and taking it as something valid and accurate.

It is also true that changes are always resisted even if they prove to be beneficial for everyone. This has yet to be proven in these types of tools, only that they are becoming widespread and their use is growing at a rate that surprises everyone, a tweet from Alvin Foo crudely describes this growth.

What will happen to AI in the future, we don't know, but it's coming and it seems unstoppable.

Hace pocos días comenté sobre el fallido del chatbot de AI denominado Bard que ha sido promovido por Google y desarrollado por sus socios de Alphabet. En un intento por no quedar retrasado en su pelea con Microsoft, lanzaron una prueba y la misma salió mal, Bard cometió un error sobre una pregunta de ciencia que fue inmediatamente resaltada por toda la comunidad científica.

Devastador error que le costó a Alphabet unos 100.000 de dólares de pérdida en su capitalización de mercado. La consecuencia inmediata además de la económica es la credibilidad; por consiguiente, ahora la mayoría de las personas confía más en el de la competencia y se lo utiliza de diversas maneras. Le va a costar bastante a Google levantar esta pesada piedra.

Nos hemos enterado por noticias que respuestas y opiniones de los chatbot de IA han sido utilizados en el congreso de los Estados Unidos de América, nada menos; pero también los utilizó el presidente de Israel en un discurso brindado recientemente y algo quizás un tanto más preocupante, fue utilizado en tribunales de Colombia.

Por supuesto que, siguiendo en esta línea, es la segunda vez en pocos días que se utiliza el ChatGPT para obtener definiciones políticas en nuestro país. Estamos comenzando la campaña electoral aunque todavía faltan muchos meses para las elecciones, esto no es de extrañar ya que por estas latitudes los políticos se mueven mucho más para lograr sus reelecciones y nuevos puestos que para solucionar los problemas de la comunidad.

Una de las mayores preocupaciones del gobierno actual es la situación judicial de su líder, la dos veces presidente y actual vicepresidente del país; en ese sentido han dedicado mucho tiempo y esfuerzo en tratar de disciplinar al poder judicial, y siguiendo esa línea en los últimos meses han pergeñado un plan para enjuiciar a la Corte Suprema de Justicia de la Nación y ya han ingresado a la cámara de diputados un pliego para realizarlo, en la comisión correspondiente tienen mayoría y el mismo ha sido aceptado. Sin embargo, hubo debate por parte de la oposición y un diputado exhibió un fragmento de su discurso obtenido de una pregunta a ChatGPT: ¿porqué los gobiernos populistas intentan controlar a la justicia?, la respuesta fue contundente y alineada con el pensamiento general de la oposición.

La siguiente consulta al ya famoso chatbot la hizo un periodista muy conocido en los medios locales por su ferviente oposición al gobierno actual y a todo lo que representa el peronismo/kirchnerismo. Su pregunta fue la siguiente: ¿Cuál es el daño que hizo el kirchnerismo? A lo que el chat respondió que sus principales daños están referidos a la inflación y a la corrupción.

Suena divertido todo esto, pero a la vez suena como algo peligroso, no tanto en sentido político ya que las respuestas están en coincidencia con lo que cree una mayoría de habitantes del país en estos momentos. El problema puede estar en sus consecuencias en otros ámbitos de la vida cotidiana. La IA es algo que todavía está en una etapa temprana de desarrollo e inconvenientes como el descripto en el caso de Bard pueden y van a ocurrir todavía.

No por nada las revistas científicas han prohibido que estos Chatbots que utilizan IA figuren como coautores de ensayos y estudios. En la misma línea, colegios e instituciones terciarias y universitarias de todo el mundo han prohibido a los estudiantes el uso de los mismos, en un intento por evitar plagios y trampas. El gran peligro que asoma es la desinformación y el tomar la misma como algo válido y acertado.

También es cierto que los cambios siempre son resistidos aun si demuestran que son beneficiosos para todos. Eso aún está por probarse en este tipo de herramientas solo que hay se están masificando y su uso crece a un ritmo que sorprende a todos, un tuit de Alvin Foo describe crudamente este crecimiento.

Qué pasara con la IA en el futuro, no lo sabemos, pero viene y parece imparable.
